Planning a destination wedding is nothing short of magical. Sun-kissed scenery, culture-filled outings and a once-in-a-lifetime gathering with all your favourite people — it’s the perfect recipe for memories that will last a lifetime. But how do you make sure your guests get the most out of travelling to your wedding while keeping the wedding festivities front and centre?
Whether you’re in Cyprus, Rhodes, Zante or Crete, a well-planned wedding week itinerary keeps the celebrations stress-free, intentional and fun for all!
Why plan a wedding week itinerary?
Unlike local weddings in the UK, destination celebrations bring everyone together in one place for more than just one day.
A schedule can help:
- Ease guest’s travel stress
- Make sure you actually get to spend time with your guests
- Showcase your chosen destination
- Build excitement leading up to the big day
- Create shared experiences
Here’s an itinerary that we think you’ll love – with built-in relaxation, exploring and quality time with your loved ones.
Days 1-3: Arrival and settle in
You, your significant other and family and friends will arrive at your destination and check into your hotel. Give a couple of days buffer time for people to arrive that are travelling from different airports in different parts of the UK. Don’t forget to take some time to relax and catch up on sleep after a busy day of travelling.
The couple of days before the wedding day are a great time for guests to get their bearings and explore the local area. If you’re doing them, it’s now a good time to hand out your welcome bags with local treats and event information to your guests. This will outline their time away and give them an idea of what to expect over the next few days.

Day 4: Welcome event
Host a welcome event for all guests to thank them for travelling and to allow guests to mingle and get to know each other before the big day. This could be anything from a casual pool day to a boat trip to a wine tasting or dinner in a traditional restaurant.
Groomsmen need a quick, tidy-up haircut? Mother of the Bride wanting her nails done? Today is also your last chance for any last-minute beauty treatments.
Day 5: The wedding day
Destination weddings generally have a later ceremony time which means you can enjoy a final leisurely morning, getting ready with your wedding party.
It’s finally time... the ceremony is here, followed by a cocktail hour and your photographs. In the evening, soak up every moment of your reception, including dinner, the speeches, cake cutting and dancing – lots and lots of dancing!
Day 6: The day after, AKA relax and reminisce
There may be a few sore heads today, so take some time for self-care, enjoy the destination and connect with loved ones while reminiscing about your magical day.
You could have a beach day or a pool party to share memories of yesterday, exchange photos and carry on the celebrations.
Day 7: Farewell
Unfortunately, it’s time to say goodbye. Meeting up for breakfast on the final morning or having a heartfelt farewell with your guests will be nice before they all head off to the airport.
If you’re heading home too, make the most of every minute in your destination and in your newly married bubble. If you’re staying and kick-starting your honeymoon or minimoon, get ready to enjoy some quality time just the two of you as Mr and Mrs!
