Some people are so smitten with Costa del Sol holidays that just a single trip can lead to a lifetime of future fly-backs! The warm weather, relaxing resorts and box-ticking blue-sky-gold-sand combo makes for a getaway that’s hard to beat. It’s no wonder so many have made this colourful costa their sunny second home!
From action-packed days to authentic adventures and everything in between, there’s a corner of the Costa del Sol that’s calling out your name! We were wondering what that sound was.
So, if you’re all set, let’s match you to your perfect Costa del Sol resort! Here goes…
For VIP glamour
If you want to sprinkle a little bit of glitz on your Costa del Sol holiday, Marbella and Puerto Banus are your A-listers. By day, marina-side strolls, open-air sculpture gardens and swish shopping centres are all on the cards, then, by night, many make a beeline to the bass, so prepare to party in some of the coolest clubs in Spain.
Take a bow to the Queen of Costa del Sol holidays. With blonde sands, beautiful scenery and a bustling town centre, all the pieces of a sun-kissed jetaway jigsaw can be found here in her majesty, Nerja.
Wander along paved and pebbled alleys towards the famous Balcon de Europa, passing button-sized boutiques and spill-onto-the-street tapas bars to the sound of chit-chatting locals. Then, when you’re ready for a rest, pitch up in a promenade restaurant and watch the chefs sizzle up super-sized paellas to the delight of passers-by!
And if traditional ticks your box, you’ll strike gold in Marbella too. Take to the Old Town where charming churches, whitewashed buildings and step-back-in-time squares just call to be explored.
For beach bliss
Beautiful beaches are Costa del Sol holidays’ specialist subject! From urban stretches fringed by hotels to golden miles chequered with chiringuitos, there’s something for every kind of sand-seeker round these parts.
Fly and flop in Fuengirola if shimmering shores are high on your ‘yes’ pile. Los Boliches is a popular plot, with silky sands that demand sandcastles, while Santa Amalia is around a mile long, so there’s plenty of space to lay down your towel!
For golf galore
They don’t call this sun-soaked sliver of Spain the ‘Costa del Golf’ for nothing! The region is speckled with championship courses – and there are more than 50 in fact – so you’ll struggle to find a resort that isn’t primed for practising that putt.
Benalmadena’s got some cracking courses – Golf Torrequebrada for one. This incredible 18-hole green is backed by an impressive mountain range and immersed within jungle-like scenery, with more than 100 types of trees dotting the sleek green course.
Puerto Banus is another resort of golfing greatness! Swing by the likes of La Quinta Golf & Country Club and Real Club de Golf Las Brisas.
For activities aplenty
Snap up tickets to Crocodile Park and see more than 300 remarkable reptiles or check out Aqualand Torremolinos, the biggest waterpark in the Costa del Sol and home to the highest waterpark in Europe... woah!
Hunting for that hear-a-pin-drop village? Whisper ‘hola’ to Frigiliana. High in the hills above Nerja, with breathtaking ocean views, lies a resort fit for a fairytale. Houses like sugar cubes dust the hillside and the sloped streets are jewelled with orange trees, creaking under the weight of their fruit. It's a truly magical place that’ll steal a piece of your heart.
For stylish settings
From the pristine palm-flanked promenade to the fantastic flower-filled square, Estepona knows a thing or two about looking good. This idyllic, arty town is alive with colour thanks to draping bougainvillea, pastel-painted churches and, of course, the impressive marina too!
For a little bit of luxe, there’s Laguna Village, a unique shopping centre complete with a spa, designer stores and some super-chic restaurants!
Fallen a little bit in love with the Costa del Sol? We did warn you! Whether you’re after fab flights or a perfect package holiday, your wish is our command!
