Alcudia

In many ways, Alcudia is a tale of two halves. It’s got a thriving tourist hub that unfolds into strings of international and tapas restaurants, a good deal of buzzing bars and a mix of souvenir and clothes shops. You’ll also be able to eat by the port for taste of top local seafood. Medieval remnants can be found around the old town, then stretches of beach around the outskirts, where you can pitch up to chill out on the sand or even go on a gentle jog. There’s everything you could need for a fun getaway, plus none of the neighbouring towns are that far by car.

Palma Nova

There’s a go-slow vibe around Palma Nova, where beachfront bliss can be found among the sun-seeking community. If you’re all about catching the rays, this could well be your perfect spot. The super-soft sands frame the bay in a horseshoe shape, providing plenty of space for you to put down a towel and get comfy. You’ll also have the chance to hire sun beds and parasols, if you need a little shade. What’s more, there are fun activities like crazy golf, plus plenty of fresh fish restaurants. Just 20 minutes from Palma? How’s that for a bonus?

Santa Ponsa

Welcome to one of the classics. Santa Ponsa has been a holidaymaker fave since way back in the 90s, thanks to its big sandy swathe with Blue Flag status. It’s particularly aimed at those who want to take a load off on the beach, then check out the local bars after dark. The Square hosts various tribute act shows, some family-friendly entertainment and – you guessed it – bags of happy hours. There are also golf and tennis clubs for you active lot, too.

Magalluf

Magalluf needs no introduction. It’s one for the clubbers, revellers and ravers, so if you’re not into curfews but like to follow the neon lights, make it Maga. You can party after dark every night of the week here, with late-night venues offering DJ sets, beach clubs looking all glam on the sands and big-name discos being loud and proud. By total contrast, it’s also home to the weird and wonderful Katmandu Park®, which is all geared up for kids and adults alike, with yetis, 4D cinemas and quirky theme park rides. Puerto Pollensa

The gorgeous town of Puerto Pollensa is crowned by its glistening beachfront, which pulls all the locals and tourists to the shore. Not to be confused with the sleepy, ochre-building-clad inland area of Pollensa – which is 15 minutes away in the car – this portside Majorca resort is a haven in its own right. There are some luxurious aspects on display, especially when you see the rows of gleaming yachts all lined up. But if you’re looking for low-key, Puerto Pollensa’s sands and tangle of tapas and seafood restaurants are just the ticket.

Cala D'Or

Sitting pretty on the south-eastern coast, cool Cala D’Or is a Majorca resort that should appeal to families, groups and couples. First and foremost, the marina is filled with upmarket moored boats, where excellent dining choices and watering holes are all lined up invitingly.
