Teide National Park
Conquer Spain’s highest peak when you venture to the summit of Mount Teide. Nestled within Teide National Park in the centre of the island, it reaches 3,718 metres at its highest. The nine-kilometre route starts at Montaña Blanca and can take roughly six hours to complete. During the ascent, you’ll pass lava canals and otherworldly volcanic landscapes – don’t forget your camera!
Anaga Mountains
Tackle the Anaga Mountains, tucked away in the north-east of the island. This lush pocket of Tenerife is home to mist-shrouded rainforest, with a maze of pathways snaking through. Opt for the Vueltas de Taganana pathway to experience the ancient laurel forest before reaching Taganana, a charming historic hamlet.
La Orotava
Located within a verdant valley, the gorgeous colonial town of La Orotava is in a prime spot for hiking in Tenerife. Spend a day discovering the 16th century centre before heading out along the Guanche Way that weaves through a pine forest. Vantage points along the route provide sweeping views of the coast.
Teno Rural Park
Journey to this mountainous area of the island that hovers more than 1,300 metres above sea level. Use the hamlet of El Palmar as your starting point. From here, you can venture into the valley past prickly pear groves, fields of produce and dense forest to the hillside hamlet of Teno Alto. The vistas during the hike are incredible.
