We sat down with the boys from LF SYSTEM to chat all things summer holidays, festival fun, and plans for next year...

Chart-topping Scottish DJ duo Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan, AKA LF SYSTEM, broke onto the music scene in 2022 with their feel-good track ‘Afraid to Feel’. Since then, they’ve had huge success with ‘Dancing Cliché’ too and not to mention, their huge world tour.

And next year is looking to be even bigger, with a summer of huge dates lined up, including Hideout festival 23-27 June 2024, to name just one of them.

Here at VIBE, we couldn’t wait to sit down for a quick chat to catch up on all things music, tours and future plans...

Hi Conor and Sean. For those who don’t know, can you give us a bit of background on how you know each other, how you got into music and how you came together as a DJ duo?

“Hello. We both started as solo artists when we were young teenagers. I (Sean) got into music production first then DJing, whereas Conor did it the opposite way. We met each other when we were 18 at a club in Glasgow called The Arches and got talking about being into producing music and DJing.

We formed a DJ collective a couple of years later and played B2B a lot. We would then send each other tunes to finish and collaborated on things for a few years. We then thought it would make sense to do it as a duo and LF SYSTEM was born four years ago.”

Tell us about the summer you had this year. Where did you play? Where did you go on holiday? What were the highlights?

“Our summer was very full-on. We played all over the world and did a whole lot of festivals, such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Reading & Leeds which were unbelievable. But Hideout was one of the standouts for us – the energy and atmosphere were amazing.

I’d also gone to Hideout six years ago in 2017 as a punter with a dream of playing it one day, which I thought was a massive longshot. That made it that extra bit sweeter. We managed to get a holiday in between shows in Ibiza which was well needed.”

Can you reveal any of your plans for next summer?

“It’s still early days, but plans are in motion for more touring all over and getting more records out. First, we have an Australia and New Zealand tour coming up, then we’re in North America for eight weeks over late spring and early summer.”

Where’s your favourite place to go on holiday? And why?

Sean: “Italy. Good food, great weather and fashion.”

Conor: “Greece. I spent a lot of time there on different islands with my family. Great culture and food.”

Have you ever had any holiday mishaps?

“Conor ended up in the back of a Guardia van in Magalluf but thankfully it was a very unfortunate case of mistaken identity, and he was let out immediately.”

What are your essentials to pack for a summer holiday?

Sean: “Sunscreen. My ginger skin can’t handle the heat.”

Conor: “Sunnies always. Future’s too bright.”

What are your all-time, classic summer tracks that you can’t live without?
