The supermodel of Swiss ski resorts, Verbier’s attracted the rich and royal for over 40 years. It boasts a prestigious postcode, located at the end of the Four Valleys, made up of resorts including Nendaz, Siviez Veysonnaz and Thyon. Want to experience the glitz and glamour for yourself? It couldn’t be simpler, thanks to handy Jet2.com flights to nearby Geneva Airport. And did we mention you’ll get 10kg hand luggage included and the option to add 22kg hold baggage and ski carriage*? Here’s everything else you need to know...
The resort
Verbier sits at around 1,500m, giving it reliable snow conditions and easy access to over 400km of pistes across the wider Four Valleys ski area. The village itself is a mix of traditional alpine architecture and upscale modern chalets, creating a stylish yet welcoming base. You’ll find ski schools, luxury spas, independent boutiques and a strong café culture all within walking distance. The resort can feel quite spread out, so choosing accommodation close to a main lift makes getting onto the slopes a doddle in the mornings. If not, there are free shuttle buses connecting key areas of the village.
The slopes
Mixed-ability group? You’re in the right place. This ski-holiday hotspot is known for its varied terrain. Beginners are well catered for, thanks to the gentle nursery slopes around Les Esserts and Le Châble, while intermediates will feel right at home on the runs from Attelas and Mont Fort. And if you’re an off-piste fan, prepare to be blown away. This resort is a gateway to some of the most famous off-piste terrain in the Alps. There’s also lots for non-skiers to get stuck into. Hop on a scenic gondola ride, enjoy winter hiking trails, tackle snowshoeing routes or laze in one of the spas. The centre’s great if browsing boutiques, enjoying long lunches and soaking up the alpine atmosphere from a sunny terrace are high on your agenda.
The après
Just here for the après? This is a judgement-free zone! On the mountain, spots like Le Ruinettes and Le Carrefour are perfect for a late-afternoon drink before heading down. Expect live DJs, dancing in ski boots and plenty of atmosphere as the day winds down. Back in the village, the energy continues with everything from stylish wine bars to lively pubs. Farm Club is a long-standing institution for late-night vibes, while places like Offshore and Farinet provide a more laidback pace. Bit of a foodie? Tuck into traditional Swiss favourites like fondue and raclette in cosy chalet-style restaurants. Burgers at Le Shed, Italian cuisine at Borsalino, fine-dining at Le 22 Table d'Hôtes... the options are endless.
