A sprinkling of history, a smattering of beaches and plenty of fun in the sun – yep, that’s about the make-up of holidays to Pula and the Istrian Coast.
Plus, we’ve got plenty of primed-for-anything properties, meaning tots, teens and kids in between are covered.
Check out the cool sculptures at Sculpture Park Dzamonja
Let the kids burn off some steam at this spacious sculpture park in Vrsar. It’s chock full of Croatian artist Dusan Dzamonja's limestone creations, that are embedded into the Istrian landscape. As well as checking out all the cool artwork, you can also visit Dusan’s workshop.
Visit the Pula Arena and see a gladiator show
Probably one of Pula’s most famous sights, the Pula Arena is not to be missed. It’s one of the six largest surviving Roman amphitheatres in the world, with plenty of history enclosed within its walls. Stroll through underground passages that were once used by gladiators or catch a performance. The kids can even put on their finest Roman attire – don't forget to snap a picture!
Roam around Porec Old Town
With its long and fascinating history, there’s plenty to see in Porec’s pretty Old Town. Historic monuments are scattered throughout, including the UNESCO-stamped Euphrasian Basilica, with its distinctive 6th-century Byzantine mosaics and the remains of a Roman fortress. And when you hear ‘I’m hungry’, you won’t be stuck for places to eat. Just make a beeline for Decumanus Street and you’ll have the pick of the bunch.
Browse the souvenir shops
Is your little one somewhat of a shopaholic? They’ll be in their element when they clap eyes on all the souvenir shops. Trinkets, toys – you name it, they’ve got it!
Spend a day on the beach
The beauty of holidays in Pula and the Istrian Coast is that it’s easy to spend the day down by the shore. Beach Hawaii is a pebbly plot that’s popular with families thanks to its calm, shallow waters – perfect if you’ve got tots in tow and want to take them for a dip. Brulo Beach is another knockout spot with plenty of water sports.
