Sicily, #4

We know a thing or two about idyllic islands, and so does Tripadvisor as they’ve awarded one of their top spots to the honey-hued shores of Sicily. There’s a slice of Sicilian perfection for every visitor, with resorts ranging from low-key to lively and towns with quaint, cobbled streets. There are cities boasting UNESCO-stamped sites and beaches that fly Blue Flags too. We told you, Sicily's got it all. Visit the east of the island and you’ll spot the standout sight, Mount Etna, before anything else. Visit the mighty volcano before delving into ancient Greek history at the amphitheatres in Syracuse and Taormina.

Paris, #5

Whoever said Paris is always a good idea was right, according to travellers on Tripadvisor. The croissant capital makes the perfect weekend getaway but there’s so much to do, so you might want to linger longer… Spend a relaxing day strolling along the Siene, visiting the many galleries and museums, including the full-day-required Louvre. Mealtimes will bring joy to foodies. French pastries make excellent mid-day pick-me-ups. For sunset, you’ve got multiple options. Climb up the Arc de Triomphe or head to Montmartre for views of the city. And as the Eiffel Tower starts twinkling, catch a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge!

Rome

Rome, #6

The Eternal City, as its name suggests, never goes out of style and 2025 won’t change that longstanding tradition. Sitting pretty at number six, Rome effortlessly blends its ancient history with classic Italian charm and renowned gastronomy. The list of sites to see here is endless, so prepare to rack up your steps on this city break! Tick off the Colosseum and the Roman Forum before landing at the breathtaking Piazza del Campidoglio. Admire the white marbled wonder of the Victor Emmanuel monument, gaze at the inscriptions on the 2,000-year-old Pantheon, dine at Piazza Navona or toss a coin in the Trevi fountain. Rome is bound to sweep you off your feet.

Marrakech, #8

The so-called ‘Red City’ is a newbie to Tripadvisor's top destinations, just like it is to our Jet2 family! So now is the perfect time to visit this fusion of bustling bazaars and terracotta wonders before it piques everyone’s interest. We can’t say we’re surprised that vibrant Marrakech, teeming with top sights and captivating culture, is elbowing its way to the top of travel recommendations. Need a bit of inspo? Start with a taste of authentic Morocco with a visit to Jemaa el-Fnaa, a square that sits at the heart of city. Then make your way to the exquisitely crafted Bahia Palace, the 16th century Saadian Tombs and the Koutoubia Mosque that dominates the skyline.

Crete, #9

Coming in strong at number nine is the biggest Greek isle, Crete. With a bit of partying here and a bit of beach lazing there, you’ve got an ‘everything’ holiday on your hands. The island boasts a rich tapestry of experiences, from its turquoise-lapped beaches to the steeped-in-tradition mountain villages. Foodies should savour the world-renowned local cuisine and make sure you show your history-loving fellow travellers the Minoan Palace of Knossos before the trip ends. Adventurers can tackle the stunning Samaria Gorge, while sun-seekers will find bliss at Elafonisi’s pink-sand shores.

Barcelona, #12

The twelfth spot has been reserved for one-of-a-kind Barcelona and, if you haven’t already, you should add it to your 2025 list. Full of culture and nightlife, the Catalan capital has a corner for every visitor! Here’s what your getaway to the second-biggest Spanish city could look like... Make the most out of breezy mornings by wandering up to the whimsical world of Gaudí at Park Güell before gazing at the soaring spires of the Sagrada Familia. Afternoons are for strolls along the bustling La Rambla before hitting the Gothic Quarter for a trip back in time. Sun yourself on Barceloneta Beach or head back to the hotel for a siesta, then feast on tapas paired with a pitcher of sangria on a cosy terrace. Convinced yet?

Majorca, #15

Our long-time Balearic favourite, Majorca is a Mediterranean marvel that deserves its spotlight on Tripadvisor’s list. If you haven’t already, 2025 is the year to finally take the plunge and explore it. You’ll be greeted with shimmering seas, dramatic cliffs and charming villages where time seemingly slows down. City breakers can spend their warm afternoons strolling the historic streets of Palma, while adventurous types should explore the hidden coves of the Serra de Tramuntana. Been waiting to see those famous-all-over crystal-clear waters? Cala d'Or is the place to be. Cyclists and hikers will adore the island’s rugged terrain, while foodies can dive into fresh seafood and traditional pastries.
