Ready to get that planning ball rolling? Check out our top tips for getting married abroad:
1. Work out your budget
Before you get too carried away, work out your maximum budget and try to stick to it. Having a figure in mind from the start makes it much easier and means that when you get further down the line, you’re aware of the different costs that you’ve budgeted for.

2. Research what setting suits you best
Are you on the hunt for a grand hotel that can host up to 100? Or would you prefer a hidden-away terrace with a more intimate vibe? Choose from our range of Cyprus hotels that tick both boxes and so many more! Think about garden settings, cliffside locations, amazing indoor spaces, sea views, beach ceremonies, traditional spots and more...
3. Choose what type of ceremony you’d like
Civil weddings are usually the most popular type of wedding ceremony for couples getting married abroad. However, couples can choose from a range of different religious ceremonies including Catholic, Anglican, Greek Orthodox and Asian.

4. Familiarise yourself with the legalities
If you choose to have a legal ceremony abroad, you’ll need to provide a few official documents like your passports and birth certificates and complete some legal paperwork. Your marriage will then be registered in the country where the ceremony takes place and is legally recognised here in the UK. Don’t worry though, your Jet2Weddings co-ordinator will be on hand to guide you through all the requirements.
5. Book with a specialist
Your wedding is said to be the most important day of your life, so you want to make sure that you have total peace of mind and are in safe hands from the get-go. By booking with Jet2Weddings, you’ll receive expert advice and first-hand knowledge, both here in the UK and out in resort. It’s good to know that we’re ABTA and ATOL-protected too.

6. Secure your wedding date early
Popular wedding locations can be booked up to two years in advance, so if you’ve got a specific date in mind, it's important to lock it in as soon as possible.
7. Plan the guest list
One of the plus sides of getting married abroad is that you can be a bit more selective with your guests and you don't have to invite long-lost friends and family members that you’ve not seen for decades! It’s important to remember that a wedding abroad is a big commitment, so while your family and close friends will fly out and may take time off work for your wedding, other friends or work colleagues may not.
Once you’ve got your date secured, send out your save the dates to give your guests plenty of notice to budget and plan ahead for their trip to your wedding too. Don’t forget, when you’ve booked your wedding, you’ll receive discount codes to share with your wedding guests – £100 per couple and £50 for solo travellers. They can use these when booking their Jet2holiday to your wedding!

8. Tailor your wedding attire to your destination
With glorious sunshine and balmy temperatures on the agenda, it's important to pick the right dress and suit for your day. If you’re going for a beachy wedding, remember that walking in the sand in heels will be extremely tricky! A Cypriot-inspired or boho-chic dress is perfect if you’re after a more relaxed look. For the men, consider a lighter material for the suits, and maybe even shorts, if you’re feeling brave!
And most importantly...
9. Enjoy the planning process, you’re in safe hands!
Booking a wedding abroad with Jet2Weddings means that we can take care of all the possible stress that comes with wedding planning and organise as much as possible for you. In comparison to getting married in the UK, a lot of the planning for a destination wedding is done in the final three months before you travel.
Your Jet2Weddings co-ordinator will keep you up to date with everything you need to know, and you’ll be put in touch with your in-resort wedding co-ordinator to discuss all the finer details. These are things like your colour scheme, flower choices, menus etc. Your co-ordinator will also be there to meet you in resort and be on hand at all times during your special day.
