Welcome to Murcia, a city in south-eastern Spain that’s a hidden gem among the country’s dazzling city spots. Jet into Alicante Airport then make the quick hop over to Murcia for sun, sights and delights!

Admire Catedral de Murcia 

This beautiful, Gothic-style cathedral was built back in the 13th century and showcases an iconic structure from the outside. Step inside to see some equally beautiful and decorated creations.

You don’t have to go far to taste some of the great tapas bars in Murcia. Head towards Plaza de Santa and you’ll have a great selection of restaurants and bars at your fingertips. It’s the ideal spot to taste some local cuisine and enjoy a crisp glass of wine.  

Veronicas Market

Visit a local food market 

Why not swing by Mercado de Veronicas and pick up some local treats? Within walking distance of Plaza de Santa, this two-storey building sells all sorts of local and fresh ingredients. It’s the main food market used by the locals, so it’s a fab place to experience the hustle and bustle. If you’re big into seafood, this market is a must-visit!

Spend the day at Terra Natura 

Travelling with kids? Then you won’t want to miss out on a visit to Terra Natura! At this fun-packed zoo, kids can see some of The Big Five African animals such a lions, rhinos and leopards, but they can also get up close and personal to some other great creatures like giraffes, bears and a hippo! Once you’ve ticked off all the amazing animals, you can then cool down in its very own waterpark, which includes a selection of slides and a great lazy river!

Venture to the old city of Cartagena 

Head 30 minutes out of the city and visit the port city of Cartagena – a  gateway city to the many Roman ruins in the area. One of the most popular is the beautifully kept Roman theatre, which was only discovered in the 80s  butr dates to around the start of BC.

Hit the beach!  

You don’t have to travel far outside of Murcia to reach some of the most pristine Spanish beaches. Mil Palmeras Beach, located around 40 minutes from the city is one of the best beaches in the area. Not only has it got clear blue seas and golden sands, but it’s also dotted with activities for all ages! There's inflatable fun for the kids or why not try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding? The beach also has a few waterfront bars along its long stretch of coastline serving some incredible Spanish tapas!

Explore La Manga  

La Manga de Mar Menor is around a 25km-stretch of sandy beach that naturally separates the saltwater lagoon known as Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea. La Manga has plenty to offer including shops and restaurants, or you can simply relax on the beach overlooking the Mar Menor Lagoon.
