Petralona Cave

This cool cave and extensive cavern system is filled with a wealth of fossils, and even a skull dating back around 700,000 years. Inside the ‘Great Hall’ is a spectacle of geological beauty – huge stalagmites that rise from the floor and stalactites that drop down like Mother Nature’s chandeliers. Plus, it’s a great spot to escape the midday sun for a couple of hours!

Mount Athos is a unique spot that’s home to over 20 monasteries and is often better known as ‘The Holy Mountain’. Although you can’t visit due to the religious nature of this monastic community, you can get the best views from the water anyway! Hop on a boat cruise along the coast and marvel at the centuries-old buildings that cling to the cliffside, overlooking the glittering Aegean.
