Action-packed activities, flour-soft sands and spectacular sunsets – welcome to sun-soaked Salou. The Costa Dorada’s big hitter is tot-friendly and adult-approved so it’s perfect for a beachfront break. Want to Jet2 Salou? Here are our top five things to do when you’re there.

Beach2

Explore the local beaches

Toes-in-the-sand holidays are Salou’s top trump and with a beach-speckled coastline offering up nine sandy spots, it’s easy to see why! Llevant Beach is the longest of them all and it’s family-ready with fleets of pedalos, seafront playgrounds and shallow waters perfect for splashing. Palm-lined Ponent Beach spans all the way to neighbouring Cambrils and offers a quieter spot for soaking up the sunshine. Activity and idleness are in equal supply here as both beaches offer a whole host of water sports to lure you away from your lounger.

Fountains

Watch the Salou fountains

Majestic feats of art and aqua, Salou’s three fountains are a water wonder you won’t want to miss! At the Illuminated Fountain blue ripples shoot up towards the sky and dance in step with songs and light. At the other end of the promenade, you’ll find the Cybernetic Fountain, where you can walk across a small bridge as jets of water cascade around you. The family-favourite Labyrinth Fountain completes the trio. Here you’ll spot children playing among the streams, especially enjoyable during the hot summer months. You’ll want to have your camera ready to capture some unforgettable holiday snaps!

Promenade

Take a seaside stroll

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, take the winding Camino de Ronda Coastal Path which encircles the lighthouse of Salou. With the gentle ocean breeze and cove-filled coastline, this trail is ideal for those seeking some sun-and-sea solitude. The undisturbed views of the glistening Mediterranean make it a perfect spot to watch the sun turn the horizon a fiery orange. Nature-lovers don’t forget to look out for the migrating birds soaring above you.

Tourist train

Take a tour on the tourist train

Climb aboard and discover all the sights of Salou on the handy tourist train. There are two different routes to choose from. Take the first tour for a landmark-ticking trail which will transport you to some of the city’s most important sights such as the Ornamental Fountains and the Church of Santa Maria del Mar. If you’d prefer to explore some of the area’s natural beauty spots, then take the second tour to Cap Salou. There’s an audio guide available too so you can soak up some culture as you go.

Port Aventura

Adventurous days out

Salou’s known as the family capital of the Costa Dorada so there’s stacks in store for kids. PortaAventura World is one of Spain’s most-popular theme parks and its six epic fantasy worlds provide endless hours of family-friendly fun. Master the white-knuckle rapids in the Far West or conquer the corkscrews in China. Tots will love meeting the Sesame Street gang and there’s an all-day entertainment schedule too. If you’re looking for splash-tastic fun, then head to the Caribe Aquatic Park – an adrenaline-packed playground where spiralling slides guide human water rockets through an exhilarating maze of twists and turns!

Settled on Salou? We don’t blame you!
