Things to do

Check country requirements

During your past travels, you may have had to fill in a form or two while on a plane or at the airport. And while this hasn’t previously been too common in Europe, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it’s set to become the new norm!

Lots of the countries we fly to have made some changes to arrivals. So it’s really important that you prepare ahead of time and check the entry requirements of the destination you’re travelling to. You may need to fill in a form before you fly, either online or a printable version. You can check country requirements here.

Fill out the UK arrivals form

If you’ve been away overseas, you’ll find there’s also been a change to arrivals into the UK. By law, everyone has to complete a Public Health Passenger Locator Form, which you can find here. However, it’s worth noting that this will only be available to you 48 hours before you’re due to arrive into the UK.

Each passenger needs to complete a form, except for children under 18 years old whose details can be added to the form of an adult they’re travelling with.

Take out travel insurance

Before you head off on holiday, don’t forget to protect it with Jet2insurance. By having one of our policies in place, if you or your party become ill with COVID-19 before you travel or while you’re on holiday, you’ll be covered. So that’s a little extra peace of mind for you.

Download the Jet2holidays app

Here’s one way to reduce your contact throughout your journey – having your boarding pass on your smartphone! All you need to do is download the Jet2holidays app. You can also use the app to check in online and look at the latest country entry requirements, all in one place.

Things to pack

Lots of face masks

You’ll need to wear a face mask throughout your whole journey, so pack plenty into your hand luggage. It’s a good idea to have a few in your bag as it’s recommended you change them every four hours.

You might also need to wear a mask at your accommodation and around your resort, so it’s best to have a few stashed away in your suitcase to last throughout your holiday!

Bottles of hand sanitiser

It’s important that you keep your hands clean, both while you’re travelling and on holiday. And as there may not always be hand sanitiser publicly available, it’s best to have your own handy. Carry a dinky bottle of hand sanitiser that’s less than 100ml in your bag and pop a couple in your suitcase too.

Those all-important travel documents

Grab a plastic folder and tuck all your travel documents safely into it. You’ll likely need your boarding pass or booking confirmation to enter the airport, so if you’ve not got either on your smartphone, have a printed version to hand. Once you’re in the terminal, it’s important that you can easily access any forms you’ve completed for visiting another country, as you may need to show them at various points. When arriving back into the UK, you’ll also need to be ready to show either a printed or an electronic copy of your completed arrivals form at border control.

Once you’ve ticked those off, that’s where the fun begins – it’s holiday time! You can also read more about what we’re doing to make sure you have a happy and healthy getaway.
