There’s snow two ways about it, a lift pass is one of the most expensive parts of a ski holiday. But don’t worry, we’re here to show you where you can get the most piste for your pennies in Europe. We’ve based it on a peak season, six-day adult ski area pass for the Winter 2023/24 season.

Dolomiti Superski, Italy (33p per km)

The Dolomiti Superski area, which spans 12 ski resorts, is a jack of all trades. There’s an excellent range of beginner-friendly runs, as well as more challenging blacks. It’s even got the pros seal of approval, hosting the Saslong race as part of the annual World Cup. All of this on top of it having one of the cheapest lift passes per km? We’re sold.

Ski amadé, Austria (48p per km)

Five ski regions, 25 ski resorts, 760 kilometres, 270 lifts... those are some big numbers. But the one thing that isn’t super-sized in the Ski amadé? The lift pass price. See how many slopes you can tackle during your stay and be sure to check out the Dachstein glacier. It sits at a whopping 2,700 metres and delivers next-level views across the Alps.

The Milky Way, France and Italy (55p per km)

Straddling the French-Italian border, the Milky Way ski area boasts 400km of winter real estate. Seasoned skiers will relish the tangle of scenic reds in Sestriere, while an abundance of cruisy blues carries beginners back to base in Claviere. Après-ski more your thing? Sauze d’Oulx’s lively bars will be right up your street. Plus, if you purchase a six-day ski pass, you’ll get two free days in the French resort of Montgenevre.

Portes du Soleil, France (57p per km)

Encompassing some of France’s best-loved resorts, including Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets, Portes du Soleil has lots to offer. It’s great for early or late-season skiing, thanks to the quantity of high-altitude slopes above 2,000 metres. Freestylers flock here for the snow parks too!

Three Valleys, France (62p per km)

Here, 600km of interconnecting slopes are yours to explore in the Three Valleys. There are four glaciers to choose from, so you can expect great snow conditions all season long. Whether you opt for picturesque Méribel, ski-in ski-out Les Menuires or Europe’s highest resort, Val Thorens, finding your slice of alpine paradise is simple.

Paradiski, France (86p per km)
Fly to: Chambery

Ski area: 425km
Set high in the French alps, clocking up the miles couldn’t be easier in the Paradiski area. With long, open red runs, this is prime terrain for intermediate skiers; and in a ski area of this size, there’s always somewhere to see off the crowds. In Les Arcs and La Plagne there’s loads to get stuck into off the slopes, so it’s a fab choice for families.
