A is for... Agadir
This is one of the country’s biggest and best beach regions, where you can chill on the sand or try your hand at catching the waves (more on that later!).
B is for... Bahia Palace
Take a step back in time as you visit this 19th-century palace in Marrakech. Its décor is out of this world! Think ornately tiled floors and ceilings, marble archways, gold fountains...
C is for... Camels
Fancy trying out the local transport? Ride a camel through the desert and enjoy travelling at a slower pace.
D is for... Drinking
Alcohol plays little part in the lives of the locals here, and you’ll soon realise that alcohol is only sold in certain places. But if you’re looking to buy a bottle of wine in a tourist area or the centre of Marrakech, you’ll come across plenty of shops!

E is for... Ensemble Artisanal
Shoppers assemble! This retail-therapy paradise in Marrakech houses all the best local products and crafts under one roof. If you’re not into haggling for a bargain, this is a good place to go. F is for... French
Although Arabic is spoken by most people in Morocco, lots of locals speak the French language just as often. So brush up on your pleases and thank yous in French, and you’ll be off to a good start.
G is for... Golden beaches
Want to try a beach break with a twist? Head to the Agadir region, where a 9km-long stretch of soft grains is all yours. Laidback or lively, there’s a spot to suit all.

H is for... Haggling
If you like to bag a bargain, get your haggling hat on and give it a go. Local market tradespeople expect an element of bartering when trying to make a sale, so why not see how low you can go?
I is for... Imi Ouaddar
This is your beach haven in the Agadir region that has relaxation written all over it. You can laze on the golden sands or try your hand at catching a wave at a surf class.
J is for... Jemaa el-Fna
Soak up the unique culture and atmosphere at one of Marrakech’s most popular attractions. This huge public square is home to hundreds of market stalls and is a real treat for all the senses. Visit at night and you’ll see live music and street performers take over the space.

K is for... Kasbahs
The Marrakech kasbah forms part of the city’s medina, and it was once a royal palace. Today, you can enter the walled citadel and experience the former splendour of the imperial city.
L is for... Lanterns
You’ll see these dotted all around, in all colours of the rainbow. Locals believe that the light and colour help to ward off evil spirits and protect the owner of the lantern. Why not pick one up from the souk and bring it home as a souvenir?
M is for... Mint tea
The national drink of Morocco! Its ingredients include gunpowder tea, water, sugar and fresh mint, and it’s said to have lots of health benefits. It’s tradition to pour the tea from a silver teapot into small glasses that are usually decorated with an intricate design.

N is for... Nightlife
From authentic Moroccan nights out filled with traditional Arabic music, to ultra-swish rooftop cocktail bars and nightclubs, there’s a night-time spot with your name on it.
O is for... Oil
Argan oil originates from trees indigenous to Morocco, so you’ll find all sorts of products featuring this amazing ingredient. You can use it as a dip for bread or drizzle over couscous. Or why not use it on your hair or skin?
P is for... Palmeraie
AKA palm grove, this is a relaxing oasis just outside the city of Marrakech which is filled with thousands of palm trees.

Q is for... Quad biking
Bit of a thrill-seeker and want to explore the Sahara-like sands and vast dunes? Quad biking tours are hugely popular here!
R is for... Riads
These traditional Moroccan houses are a quintessential part of the country’s make-up. They usually feature an internal courtyard and garden that’s completely private to the outside world. They’re built to keep the heat and noise out, so they’re super calm and peaceful inside.
S is for... Souks
These bustling markets are not to be missed if you want to bag a bargain and pick up some unique souvenirs. Souk El Had is the biggest in the Agadir area and Souk Semmarine is your best bet in Marrakech!

T is for... Tagine
You'll spot these traditional, terracotta cooking pots in nearly all cafés and restaurants. They feature a ceramic base and cone-shaped lid.
U is for... UNESCO
There are a whopping nine cultural areas in Morocco that are registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites list.
V is for... Veggie-friendly
With couscous being the national dish, it’s super easy to adapt mealtimes around different diets. Pescatarian, vegetarian or vegan? Morocco caters to all.

W is for... Waves
Morocco is a real surfer’s paradise and one of the most-popular surfing destinations in the world. September to March is the best time to go, when the water is relatively warm and there’s a consistent swell.

There's a bright-blue museum in Marrakech dedicated to the life and work of the iconic fashion designer.

Zigzag your way through the bustling souks and mesmerising market stalls. Look for colourful lanterns hanging from above, stacks of vibrant spices piled high and Berber rugs rolled out like a red carpet.
