So you like to mix your sightseeing with evenings out? It looks like Tallinn got the memo. One of our newest Jet2CityBreaks from 2025, it’s a bubbly hub just waiting to be explored, and it boasts a buzzy nightlife scene to boot. While you can’t do any drinking in public in Estonia, that just means out and about in parks and on streets – the capital’s got plenty of places for you to stay up late indoors. Here’s the lowdown...
Pubs
Old-school pint-pouring pubs are among the staple watering holes in Tallinn. Hell Hunt fits this bill, with its mustard-hued exterior and chunky, traditional font giving it all the aesthetics worthy of your Insta stories. Inside, it’s ready to serve light and dark beer, plus a selection of bottled international choices, and food too. You’ll also come across a handful of taprooms throughout the city – and nowhere gives you permission to take the load off with a cold one quite like these. Vaat Brewery is a fave, where a small-but-modern setup presents craft-seeking sippers with artisanal picks.
Bars
Red, white, rosé? Whichever’s your go-to drop, various vinoteks (wine bars, as you might see them written) will be eager to welcome you into their warmth. Grapes from across the globe have gone into a lot of the clinking drinks cabinets across these bars, so you can really wine down. Fancy heading up to a rooftop? Panorama T1 is a fab example of up-high digs with a cosy vibe, warm lighting and a medley of European dishes to order with your tipples.
What’s more, Tallinn nails the cocktail bar brief. You’ll discover an array throughout the city, but if you’re thinking ultra-swish and renowned, two spring to mind. The first’s Whisper Sister, a basement bar with a speakeasy-inspired past, revered for its tantalising concoctions using mezcal, rye whisky, dulce de leche and more. Mixology at its finest, hey? Don’t miss Sigmund Freud Bar either. Full of monochrome and brass, it’s an edgy den with a less perplexing brain-boggling drinks menu than its name suggests. And it’s been designed in a pop-art style. The classy cocktails shake and stir all sorts of quirky ingredients.
Gigs
Concert halls, stadiums, opera houses... they’re all here. But Tallinn also has a selection of bars and clubs that double as gig venues for live artists both big and small on the emerging music scenes. Your best bet is to search online to see what’s on when you’re going and grab tickets for any artists you fancy catching. Want to go with the flow? You might hear the sweet sounds of live tunes playing in pubs while you sup up, or be drawn into spots offering open mic nights. Talk about variety!
Clubs
Welcome to some of the funkiest parts of Tallinn, where things move to an electronic beat. There are pockets of clubs to check out – some have names of places around the world – and they tend to throw parties. You’ll typically find them open from 11pm to 4am, and the city’s handy night buses could prove useful carriages at the end of the night.
