With stacks of character alongside 305km of pistes, St Anton’s got winter getaways covered. Trips here start with great-value Jet2 flights to Innsbruck Airport. And with 10kg hand luggage included and the option to add 22kg ski carriage* plus 22kg hold baggage*, all your essentials are taken care of! Hold onto your ski poles, we’ve got the lowdown on this Austrian all-rounder...
The resort
A pretty church is the resort’s focal point, surrounded by charming chalets and slopeside après spots. The pedestrianised main street is lined with bars and restaurants, and there are lots of high-end hotels if you’re looking for luxury. The yellow public buses are free and make it super easy to get around the resort. The bus to Lech-Zürs isn’t included in your lift pass but it runs approximately every thirty minutes throughout the season until around 7pm. You usually need cash to pay, so be sure to have some handy.
The slopes
Seasoned skiers flock here to clock up the kilometres. One of the best ways to make the most of the area is to take on the Run of Fame – a 65km route that starts in St Anton and ends in Warth-Schröcken. You can also test your skills on the high-altitude runs from the Valluga peak or on the fab off-piste trails. For boarders, freestyle fun is on the cards at the St Anton Park, located at the top of the Rendl gondola. Rails, jumps and an occasional airbag are all on hand to keep you entertained. More of an intermediate? Hop on the Galzig gondola and warm up your legs on the wide pistes. Then, head across to Stuben and the selection of scenic, linked reds and blues.
The après
Arguably the Austrian après capital, St Anton’s nightlife more than lives up to the hype. The most famous bars can be found on the home runs, so it’d be rude not to slide in for a Jager (or two). Mooserwirt and Krazy Kangaruh are two of the iconic spots, where singing and dancing to Europop is all part of the fun. If you’re after something a little more relaxed, there are wine bars and cosy pubs too. Beyond the wining and dining scene, there are loads of off-slope activities to get stuck into. The arl.rock park has indoor and outdoor climbing walls, tennis courts and a bowling alley in its box of tricks. In need of a pamper? Arlberg Wellcom at your service. This sports complex boasts a heated outdoor pool, sauna and steam rooms. Tobogganing and ice skating are also on the agenda.
