Majorca

Sun, sea and smooth roads… Majorca is a firm favourite in the world of cycling. Offering the perfect combination of great weather and mixed terrain, this Balearic beauty should be top of the list when it comes to spinning the wheels in Spain.

The northern coast – home to the (literally) breathtaking Tramuntana Mountains – attracts cyclists with its mixture of challenging climbs and scenic flats. We’d recommend setting up camp in Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa – you’ll have access to a range of epic rides during the day, and everything the resort has to offer in the evening – the best of both worlds, some may say!

Seeking the ideal spot for speed? Head to the south and you’ll find a selection of flat routes, perfect for training. There’s also a choice of routes with gentle gradients close to Palma Nova, so there’s something for all ages and abilities!

Lanz

Lanzarote

The northernmost of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has a spectacular landscape packed with dramatic volcanoes, lush valleys and superb beaches. Partner that with a warm climate and very little rain, and you’ve found yourself a paradise for pedalling.

Ready for a challenge? Tackle the iconic Tabayesco hill in the north, where you’ll climb all the way from sea level to the highest point on the island – our legs burn just thinking about it! If you’re more of a casual cruiser, try the Arrieta to Orzola route – a 30km ride with sparkling ocean views and a selection of whitewashed coastal towns for refuelling.

GRO

Costa Brava

If you’re a pro on two wheels, then you probably already know the Costa Brava is the place to be! With a diverse terrain, magnificent scenery and great weather, it’s an ideal base if you’re after varied cycling with a picture-perfect backdrop.

Girona is often referred to as the cycling capital of Europe, and it’s easy to see why. The city boasts several charming streets, alleyways and squares to explore – and did we mention the abundance of cycling cafés run by professional riders? A must-visit, if you ask us!

The surrounding areas have heaps to offer too. For a breathtaking coastal ride with views of the glistening Med, take the route from Lloret de Mar to Sant Feliu de Guixols, or choose a challenge in the saddle and opt for the steeper tracks – don’t worry, the views are totally worth it!

TFS

Tenerife

From sun-soaked flatlands to imposing mountains, Tenerife is a real treat on two wheels. Whether you’re a pro in-the-making or a saddle specialist, one thing’s for sure – this dazzling Canary Island will have a route to suit!

Widely considered one of the world’s most popular cycling destinations, Tenerife is home to oodles of tracks just waiting to be explored. Take on the tiring Teide – the highest point in Spain – from Puerto de la Cruz, or drift dreamily along the south coast from El Medano to Poris de Abona – dramatic landscapes to the left, stunning sea views to the right, what could be better?

For time spent on foot, there’s plenty to keep you busy in the island’s action-packed resorts. From restaurants and bars to waterparks and golf courses, you won’t be short of things to do if you fancy a day away from the handlebars!

Menorca

Menorca

Don’t be fooled by Menorca’s laid-back charm, this impressive island has tonnes to offer when it comes to cycling. With a mixture of hillside tracks and coastal flats, you can put your skills to the test or simply take in the scenery as you glide along the shoreline.

The two captivating cities, Ciutadella and Mahon, provide great starting points for both new and ancient routes around the island. The historic Cami de Cavalls ride is an absolute must, taking you on a complete coastal circuit and showcasing everything Menorca has to offer – think rugged coves, turquoise waters and tree-lined bays. Practise your endurance with the full route, or enjoy shorter chunks if you’re looking for a more relaxed ride – the choice is yours!
