Sauze d’Oulx might be known for its lively atmosphere, but it's the easy access to 400km of Italy’s best pistes that’s got our attention. This is one of the eight resorts that make up the Via Lattea ski area, so you can rest assured you’re in good hands. And with Jet2, you can fly direct to Turin Airport, just an hour and a half’s transfer away. Plus, we offer 22kg baggage* and up to 22kg ski carriage*, so you can bring all your gear with you!
The resort
Sitting at just over 1,500m, this Italian pick boasts a picturesque centre full of cobbled streets, stone houses and charming piazzas. There’s a wide range of accommodation options, from budget-friendly apartments to high-end hotels. Most of these are within walking distance of the lifts or connected via the resort's ski bus. Beyond the slopes, you’ll find plenty to do. Take the time to sample Piedmontese fare. We’re talking truffle pasta, polenta with wild mushrooms and more. There are also boutiques to browse, hotel spas to unwind in and activities like snowshoeing and tobogganing to get stuck in to.
The slopes
Sauze d’Oulx is part of the Milky Way ski area, which links several resorts across Italy and France (Montgenèvre). This means you’ll have endless kilometres at your ski tips. If you’re a beginner, stick to the nursery slopes near the village. The returning runs can get a little icy and busy towards the end of the day, so you might be better off taking the lift back down.
The local area is particularly well suited to intermediates. You’ll find long, cruising red runs and well-maintained pistes weaving through forests. The run from the Sportinia lift down to the village is a must-do – especially on a good powder day. Up for testing your skills? Try out the moguls on Genevris or head across to Sansicario and Sestriere. Seasoned pros will also love exploring the wider Milky Way area, with testing blacks in Sansicario and Sestriere. And no visit would be complete without testing your mettle on the Kandahar Banchetta slope, used for the men's downhill race in 2006. Freestyle fanatics will be in their element in Sestriere’s snow park too.
The après
You’ve landed in a place that’s après royalty in Italy – and for good reason. The post-skiing adventures usually kick off in the Sportinia area, home to a handful of sun-soaked terraces, where you can catch live music. As the lifts close, the party moves down into the village. Miravallino Wine Bar and Ghost are firm favourites. And if you're still going after midnight? Clubs like Banditos and Cotton Club will keep you dancing until the early hours. Don’t worry if that’s not your vibe, you won’t have to go far to find a cosy spot, where you can relax with a hot chocolate or spritz by the fire.
