Looking for a great-value base that’s fab for beginners and groups? Call off the search! Pas de la Casa is one of the highest resorts in the Pyrenees, which means you can bank on a good snow record all season long. In it for the après? This is the liveliest spot in Andorra, so there’s always an after-dark adventure to be found. And with Jet2 flights to Barcelona Airport and the option to add up to 22kg ski carriage and hold luggage*, booking your next ski break is a snow-brainer.
The resort
Pas de la Casa sits at over 2,000m above sea level. The resort itself is compact and easy to navigate, so you’re never far from the lifts, restaurants or bars. One of the biggest perks of this snowy spot is its value for money, with lots of affordable accommodation options. Many hotels offer ski-in, ski-out convenience too, which means less carrying equipment and more time on the mountain. The town has a buzzing atmosphere and is home to lots of shops selling everything from ski gear to tax-free goods.
The slopes
A stay here will put you in the best possible position for exploring the 215km Grandvalira ski area. It’s known for its excellent ski schools and network of wide runs. As this is a popular pick for first-timers, just hop on the Els Pioners gondola up to the beginner area and you’ll be a pro in no time! Once you’ve built up your confidence, why not tackle the nearby blues? At the end of the day, you can choose to ski down a green or take the lift. Intermediates will be in their element once they spot the marvellous medley of long blues and reds. The Moreto and Serrat Pinos in the Grau Roig sector are two faves, as well as the long blues towards Soldeu. If all that sounds too tame for you, point your skis or board in the direction of the Costa Rodona and Antenes chairlifts. At the top of these, you’ll find a couple of black runs, where you can really test your mettle. There’s even a floodlit snow park for the freestyle fans!
The après
When the lifts close, Pas de la Casa comes into its own. The après scene here is legendary, with slope-side terraces, buzzing sports bars and late-night clubs galore. Whether you want craft beers in ski boots, live music until 12am or a leisurely dinner with wine and melted cheese, there’s something for everyone. For mountain-top partying, KSB is one of the resort’s top venues. If you prefer a classic pub atmosphere, Paddy's Irish Bar and the Dubliner are your best bets. And you won’t want to miss the vibes at the Underground, where Ibiza’s resident DJs spin the decks until the early hours. Food is a huge part of the après culture too and there are around 80 restaurants to choose from!
