Palermo really is a mixed bag when it comes to its nightlife, so if you’re flying into this lively city, you’ll find something to suit you. Whether you’re looking to boogie ‘til the sun comes up, or a relaxing meal by the sea sounds like your ideal evening, there’s something for everyone…
Old Town
Palermo’s Old Town is a hub of bustling nightlife. There are rows of bars, clubs and cafés to keep you going until the early hours. Piazza Castelnuovo and Piazza Verdi are centrally located too, making it easy to find DJ sets, bands and live music. Strolling along the historical centre’s small alleys is a great way to test out a few spots and see what floats your boat. It gets incredibly busy here past 8pm, so make a beeline for the Old Town if you want to be in the central throngs of it.
Street food by the seafront
Watching the sun go down while the waves lap at the shore is a dreamy way to welcome the evening. There are a few spots where you can do this in Palermo, and if it’s a weekend, visit Nautoscopio. Why not grab an aperitif and some street food and see the sun set from the beach or little pier? They also have an events calendar featuring live shows on their website.
La Cala Harbour
If you’re feeling a little swanky, why not head to the marina for an al fresco dinner? There’s A’Cala, where you can watch the yachts bobbing gently from the outdoor lounge. Tuck into Mediterranean delights amid a softly lit ambiance and soak up the views. An Aperol spritz is just the cherry on top.
Citysea delivers top-tier food from renowned Sicilian chef Natale Giunta, including a sushi bar and steakhouse. It's fab if you fancy splashing out a little more for the best-quality food!
Teatro Massimo
How about spending the night at Teatro Massimo? If you have a basic understanding of Italian or simply want to get immersed in some local opera music, a theatre event will be a night to remember. It’s a beautiful and culturally rich auditorium, and it stands as the third-largest opera house in Europe. Impressive, right?
Downtown, Politeama
Downtown is the place to be if you like a busy but calm environment. The area’s bursting with bars and restaurants open until late but leaves a bit more breathing room than the Old Town. It’s the prime place to start your night. It’s about a 15-minute walk too, so you can admire the city in all its lit-up glory! There’s Exit, a bar that serves tasty platter-based food, or Berlin Café if you want to go where the locals go.
