The resort

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to places to stay here, with everything from self-catering apartments to spa hotels on offer. Meribel Centre is the liveliest spot, home to lots of bars, restaurants and shops. Meribel Village is a little more low-key, with a selection of dinky boutiques, chalets and patisseries. It’s a doddle to get around the resorts too, thanks to the free public buses. There are four routes which cover all the local areas.

The slopes

If your idea of a dream holiday is clocking up as many kilometres as possible, and never skiing the same run twice, then you’ve hit the jackpot. You’ll have 600km to keep you busy – so, where to start? There are nursery slopes in each of the villages, where you can whizz down cruisy, tree-lined runs and get your ski legs back. Once you’ve built up your confidence, hop on the Mont Vallon gondola to unlock long sweeping reds with eye-popping views. Seasoned pro? You can’t leave without testing out the area’s steepest black, the Grand Couloir. It’s best to head here first thing, as it’s likely to be full of moguls by the end of the day. A fan of freestyle? Get ready to test out your best tricks in the two snow parks, the Elements Park and the Plattières Park. There’s a great collection of kickers and railers, as well as a video system, so you can get film footage of your run and watch it back. How cool is that?

The après

Live music, DJ sets, wine bars... Meribel knows a thing or two about après. The party starts on the piste post-lunch and continues back in town all the way into the early hours. Folie Douce Meribel-Courchevel is the headliner, where you can watch acrobats, dancers, singers and musicians every day from 3-5pm. Le Rond Point is another fave. We’re talking a huge ski-in, ski-out terrace, great food and a house band. For a more chilled evening, you could catch a film at the cinema in Mottaret or go bowling at Parc Olympique. And it doesn’t get more fun than the Mission Black Forest, a 3.4km-long sled run with 28 corners.
