Think Magalluf is all neon-lit nightlife? Think again! We met up with Katie and Eleanor from our Product team to talk all things Magalluf. Find out how the resort is changing and all their best recommendations! Without further ado...
1. How do you think Magalluf has changed over the past few years?
“There’s been a lot of growth in four and five-star hotels and a bit more of a focus on luxury. It’s really evolved so, now, aside from the bar culture, we’re seeing more high-end product as well as your budget hotels.
In general, there’s been lots of refurbishment going on and a change of ownership, with certain hotels making things a lot more modern. They’ve had to move with the demand. We're now seeing that a lot of bookings for this summer are for four-star hotels or above, and the other half are three-star, so you’ve got the best of both worlds depending on what you’re looking for.”
2. Can people still enjoy the ‘classic side’ of Magalluf?
“There’s definitely still the classic partying side for those who want it, but what people maybe don’t realise is that, for families and those wanting a beach break, the seafront there is beautiful! It’s so underrated, with a big clean strip of sand and shallow turquoise waters, which is obviously ideal for those with kids.”
3. Where would you say are the best place for more traditional, Spanish food?
“We spoke to a few people in resort and they gave us a couple of recommendations! One of them was in Calvia town, just slightly inland which is easily accessible by car or taxi. It’s a lovely locals’ haunt called Meson C’an Torrat, serving great Spanish food like grilled meat and tapas dishes.”
4. How about if people want to stick to the centre of Magalluf? Do you have any recommendations for eateries there?
“Yes, right on the beach! It’s called Bondi Beach and it serves amazing Mediterranean cuisine, seafood and great cocktails.”
5. Have you got any hotels you’d recommend if you want to enjoy Magalluf’s livelier side?
“It’d have to be tent Calvia Beach! It’s close to the strip and also hosts brunch until 13:30 if you like a lie-in.”
6. How about for All Inclusive?
“Dreams Calvia Mallorca is great and there, the All Inclusive is unrestricted. A lot of hotels have restricted the All Inclusive now, but you’ll still be able to enjoy unlimited here. Plus, it’s really close to the resort centre but peaceful too, set in pine trees and overlooking the beach.”
7. Where would you recommend for families looking at Magalluf as their next holiday destination?
“Definitely Sol Katmandu Park and Resort as it’s got the theme park included!”
8. What are your top must-dos on a visit to Magalluf?
“Number one has to be a day on the beach there are calm waters and soft sand, like we mentioned before, which is ideal if you’ve got younger children. There are water sports too for older kids and adults. There’s something for everyone really."
"Another is Katmandu Park, which is a firm favourite with families. There’s a waterpark, rides, soft play area, plus loads more."
"It’s not all partying in the evenings, as there are events for family-friendly nights out too, like Pirates Adventure! It’s a show with acrobatics, music and dancing, obviously all pirate themed. And you get your dinner included! There’s an adults-only version called Pirates Reloaded, which has more of an electric atmosphere and live DJ sets, along with the usual acrobatics and dancing. Both are really popular and good fun depending on who you’re holidaying with!"
"Western Water Park is a must-visit too. You’ve got your bigger slides for daredevils but there’s the ‘Kidzworld’ section for younger ones. Again, it just shows Magalluf has got something for every age.”
8. Anything else to add?
“Definitely don’t judge a book by its cover! The partying side is on offer if you want it but there’s so much more to uncover.”
