Nestled high in the French Alps, Les Deux Alpes boasts vast, sun-drenched slopes, a glacier you can ski on almost year-round and a lively village atmosphere. Whether you’re clipping into skis for the very first time or you’re a pro looking for their next adrenaline fix, this resort welcomes everyone with open arms. And with handy Jet2.com flights to the nearby airports of Grenoble, Chambery, Lyon and Geneva, making your way to the mountains just got that bit easier. 10kg hand luggage included? Great-value 22kg ski carriage and hold baggage*? Friendly low fares? Yep, that’s your next ski trip signed, sealed and sorted.

The resort

At first glance, Les Deux Alpes impresses with its scale. Sitting at 1,650m with slopes topping out at over 3500m on its glacier, it’s one of the most snow-sure spots in Europe. The village stretches along a single main road, with lifts dotted conveniently along its length. This layout makes it easy to get around, without the stress of navigating a complex network of streets or transport links. Its south-facing slopes catch the sun throughout the day, so you can expect spectacular views at every turn.

The slopes

With over 200km of pistes and access to one of Europe’s largest skiable glaciers, you could spend a week here and not ski the same run twice. For beginners, the nursery slopes are wide, gentle and conveniently located in the village. Once you’ve built your confidence, you’ll find a lot of the easier runs are actually located at the top of the mountain – so no one misses out on those panoramic peaks. Feeling tired after a long day? Hop on the gondola home, the 5km-long green back to the village is a real thigh-burner. Got a few trips under your belt? One of the standout experiences is the descent from the glacier all the way back to the village. There’s a handful of daring blacks too, like La Fée and Valentin. Freestyle fans will love the snow park at Toura, while off-piste terrain in Saint Christophe and La Grave attracts the adventurous.

The après

As the lifts close, Les Deux Alpes buzzes with après-ski energy. Spots like the Pano Bar, perched at a lofty 2,600m, are famous for turning a final run into an impromptu party, with DJs, dancing and a terrace that fills with skiers still in their boots. Off the mountain, the atmosphere spreads along the resort’s main strip, where bars and pubs offer their own take on après. Umbrella Bar and Smokey Joe’s are known for live music and La Grotte du Yéti’s the place to be for a cocktail or two. For those who aren’t quite ready to call it a night, late-night institutions like the L’Avalanche Club keep things going well past midnight. Food plays an important role too. Le Raisin d’Ours serves generous portions of local favourites, while Le Diable au Cœur’s on hand if you’re after a slightly more refined take on alpine dining.
