Blue skies, golden sand and a cocktail in hand. It doesn’t get much better than that, right? Well, in Santorini it does! This gorgeous Greek island boasts some of the best views and settings that you won’t think twice about uploading straight to your Instagram grid.
Ready to get snap happy? Here are the Instagram hotspots of Santorini…
Caldera sea view, west coast
Santorini’s caldera is something that makes this island totally unique. And from Fira, Oia and Imerovigli on the west coast, you’ll have the best views of it. These hilltop towns seem to cascade into the water and the scene looks even more picturesque if you catch it at sunrise or sunset.
The iconic windmills
There are around 70 windmills still remaining on the island, all of which are in varying states, but you can’t come to Santorini without seeing and snapping these famous few. They stand tall in the hillside village of Oia and are one of the island’s most photographed scenes. Postcard, anyone?
Perissa Beach
And it wouldn’t be a holiday without a beach shot for the photo album! Sink your toes into the ashy-black, volcanic sands of Blue Flag Perissa Beach and drink in the views out to sea. The quirky bamboo umbrellas and comfy loungers make it even more photogenic. Get snap happy then head in for a cooling dip.
Ammoudi Bay
Below Oia, you’ll find this tiny bay nestled between the red cliffs. You’ll have to climb down 300 steps to get here but once you admire the scenery, you’ll be sure it was worth the journey. While you’re down here, why not stop by the renowned Ammoudi Fish Tavern for a plate of just-caught seafood? It’s dinner with a view!
The Three Bells of Fira
Another of Santorini’s iconic sights, the Three Bells of Fira are part of the Catholic Church of Koimisi Tis Theotokou. You’ll find them in the cliffs, high above Fira, the capital. Much like many other buildings across the island and Greece, it also boasts a cobalt blue dome and bright-white walls.
The sugar cube houses
Whitewashed houses usually come as standard across most of Greece, but here in Santorini, they spill down the hillsides with winding stairways in between. Charming blue doors, hidden archways and domed rooves complete the picture. Drenched in sunshine or lit up by the night sky, whatever the time of day, they always look pretty.
