Whether you’re flying into Naples with Jet2.com or enjoying all the package perks in Sorrento with Jet2holidays, adding a touch of glamour to your trip is well worth it. And where better than Capri? And it raises the bar on any Amalfi Coast escape.
Within 20-25 minutes, you can leave Marina Piccola in Sorrento on a regularly running ferry and be over on the island itself, ready and raring to experience the place in all its glory.

What to see
When you pull into the main port, you’ll be met with island views that fuse deep blues with Jurassic Park-style rocks and rugged green peaks. As you hop off and wander past small, potted plants and birds flap overhead, you’ll soon see the ice-whites of the island’s buildings. All around them, smatterings of lemon groves and various viewpoints are all yours, where churches, statues and sugar-cube houses come to the fore.
Over on the other side, Anacapri offers even more for the seasoned adventurer, where the intrepid can seek out the Blue Grotto for starters. It’s a brilliant azure cave that you reach by small rowing boat. Prepare to be in awe! And then when you’re back on dry land, visit Villa Damecuta – one of 12 Roman villas once in Capri – then check out the Faraglioni Rocks from a distance or climb the Phoenician Steps.

What to eat
Set yourself up for a day of discovery with a coffee and a croissant. Order a rich espresso or frothy cappuccino to wash down a pastry –you’ll find everything from plain and buttery to a local favourite, pistachio.
Mealtimes are at their peak when you’re seated at a gingham-clothed table by the water’s edge. There, you’ll find mega menus brimming with wood-fired pizzas, sumptuous seafood and healthy, vibrant salads. And for lunch, the hefty paninos are jaw-busting but just the ticket – go for a big submarine sarnie stuffed with mozzarella slabs, thickly cut tomatoes and basil. Or how about a pescatarian pick, like smoked salmon, courgette, rocket and pesto sandwiched between brown and seeded? Mmm!
Level-up your gelato pit stops with a game-raising sorbet. The mousse-like consistency of this zesty goodness is served in open, hollowed-out lemon. Tunnel through and you won’t want the zingy flavour to end!

What to buy
From fresh flowers to hand-painted ceramics, woven bags with colourful stitching to custom-made sandals, there’s everything a shopper could hope for in Capri. So if you’re in need of some retail therapy, get set, go!
While there are wholesome souvenir shops, you’ll even spy designer stores like Prada. Something delicate in mind? Jewellery boutiques selling coral and turquoise jewellery are big business here too.

What else to know
When you arrive, you’ll have the option of getting around the island however you want. Thinking two wheels? There are scooter rentals. Something more sedate but along the same lines? The buses are frequent and run all around Capri’s Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, as well as to Anacapri. The taxis here gleam in their eye-catching whites, with aquamarine trims – film prop, much?
For venturing from A to B with a twist, the funicular is fantastic. Take a ride for just a couple of euros each way* and you’ll be greeted with incredible scenes as you ascend and descend.
After you’ve had your fill of Capri, let the port be your oyster. There are so many stands where you can hop on ferries from, so why not consider booking one to another island or back to a different part of the mainland, like the Amalfi Coast? It’s choices galore!
