After the whirlwind of a wedding, your honeymoon is the perfect time to unwind in style. Picture it now – you and your new husband or wife, sharing a bottle of island-grown wine, while watching the sun set spectacularly over a dramatic caldera. Ahh yes, that’s Santorini for you… it’ll make your heart sing. It’s every bit as special as you could dream your honeymoon destination to be.
From its sensational Aegean views to the blue-domed chapels and dove-white villages, this island is one of Europe’s most romantic spots. Here’s the inside track on where to say and what to do while honeymooning in Santorini...
Where to stay

Katikies Santorini
Switswooo! Overlooking the island’s iconic caldera, this five-star wonder is as romantic as they come. Soak up whimsical sea views from the pool, enjoy intimate dinners at the champagne bar and retreat for the evening to an all-white suite.

Belvedere Suites
Views, views, views… that’s what you can expect at this honeymoon hideaway. From the chic rooms to the serene poolside, Belvedere Suites delivers on the showstopper front. Oh and Fira, the island’s capital, is right on your doorstep too.
What to do

Stroll from Fira to Oia
Walk hand-in-hand along this outstanding hiking route that winds from Fira, along the caldera cliff, through Firostefani and Imerovigli, all the way to dreamy Oia. It’s a 10km stretch but worth every step for the jaw-dropping views. Whitewashed villages, dinky churches, the shimmering sea… don’t forget your camera!

Eat seafood at Ammoudi
From Oia, venture down more than 250 steps to the sleepy port of Ammoudi. Surrounded by red-tinged cliffs and colourful restaurants, it’s a beautiful place to share lunch by the sea. Fisherman dock here with their daily catches and whisk them straight into the tavernas lining the small port. Ammoudi Fish Tavern is one of the best places for a meal to remember. Pick a table right on the water’s edge and feast on lobster linguine, fish chowder and grilled squid, washed down with a crisp bottle of white wine.

Watch the sun set at Oia
For a front row view of Santorini’s iconic sunset, venture to Oia. The sun sets in a riot of colour, dancing from fiery red to honey gold and sweet pink. It’s completely bewitching. A prime spot is the old castle, which boasts a vantage point overlooking the iconic blue domes of Agios Spyridonas. Settle in early and watch the spectacle unfold before your eyes.

Wander Pyrgos
Hidden away on a hilltop, Pyrgos is a pretty patch of the island to visit during a day trip. All of Santorini’s trademarks are flaunted here – a maze of whitewashed houses, tiny bell-clad churches and blues domes are huddled alongside wine bars, galleries, tavernas and boutiques. Don’t miss Franco’s – it’s praised for its stunning location at one of the island’s highest points and brilliant coffees and cocktails. Table for two? Yes please!

Go wine tasting
Santorini’s volcanic soil is perfect for growing grapes – which is why you’ll find vineyards dotted all around the island! One of our faves? Santo Wines. Take a seat on the panoramic terrace overlooking the caldera and enjoy a tasting of several locally-made vinos. It’s particularly atmospheric at sunset!

Laze on Perissa Beach
It’s time for the two of you to discover a different side to Santorini! Embark on an adventure over to the island’s east coast and experience the black-sand shore of Perissa Beach. This volcanic stretch touts a Blue Flag and is teeming with loungers and beach bars. Relax in the sunshine, take a cooling swim together in the sea and soak up the vibes of this buzzy beach.
