Whether you fancy a relaxing getaway or an action-filled adventure, Gran Canaria caters to all tastes. Gorgeous green gardens will charm nature lovers, while breathtaking Tamadaba National Park will wow the whole family. Beautiful beaches, pretty promenades, wonderful waterparks – the list goes on. And if you want to travel like a TV star, we’ve got you covered...
The Canary Islands with Jane McDonald is a brand-new series uncovering the joys of the sun-kissed Canaries with Jet2holidays. In the second of four episodes, we head to Gran Canaria – follow the journey to find out how celebrities do this iconic island.

Travel like a star
Getting around the Canaries is easy – if you’ve followed the journey from the start, you’ll know that a 90-minute ferry ride gets you from terrific Tenerife to glorious Gran Canaria. But to make packing, travelling and island-hopping even easier, the star is travelling on four wheels, and you can too – just choose Jet2CarHire when booking!

Get that beauty sleep
First on the show – unpacking the bags at the showstopping Seaside Palm Beach Hotel. A beachfront location and the Maspalomas Dunes on your doorstep? This five-star beauty sure is a winner! Add All Inclusive board, a range of pools and a spa into the mix, and you’ve got a stay fit for a TV celeb.

Visit the hush-hush spots
Get away to the tourist-free town of Firgas to get a true feel for Gran Canaria. Try watercress-based traditional dishes as seen on TV, but we’ll let you decide whether the star liked the corn soup! The traditional tapas with a Canarian spin was a true highlight though.

Water-based fun, anyone?
When you’re ready for an aquatic adventure, you’ve got the natural swimming pools to try out. Or why not jump on a jet-ski to discover Gran Canaria’s coast in a unique way? You’ll be picked up from your hotel too, and those little details definitely add to feeling like royalty! The splash-tastic experience is a fun activity on its own, but if you’re more into the exploring part, book a two-hour safari to see as much of the coast as you can!

Wine and dine
Trying Gran Canaria’s cuisine is an essential part of your holiday. Head to one of three restaurants for a delicious dinner and a carafe of sangria. If you only try one thing, it has to be sancocho, a boiled salted fish garnished with Canary classic, papas arrugadas, and mojo sauce. Out and about? Be sure to grab a fresh fruit smoothie like on the show!

Hit the shelves
For a unique shopping experience, head to the ‘Little Venice’ of Gran Canaria – Puerto de Mogán. The Friday market is a local attraction, where fresh food, local crafts and superb souvenirs dominate the stalls. You could even bag a bargain! Although it seems the traveller was attracted to the local delicacies more than anything…

Golf like a champion
Whether you’re a pro golfer or trying your swing for the first time, the Maspalomas Golf course is a perfect fit for all and, as the star notes, close to your hotel too! Surrounded by the famous dunes and pristine greens, this golf ground is the perfect place for a round.
The Canary Islands with Jane McDonald airs on Channel 5 at 9pm on January 12, 19 and 26. Didn’t catch it live? Watch it later via My5 online!
