Whether you want family fun, a romantic retreat or wild parties, it’s got the lot. Discover where to go in Greece with our guide to different destinations within the country.
Greek holidays for families: Corfu
Family-friendly resorts are plentiful on the idyllic island of Corfu. You’ll find loads of hotels designed specifically with families in mind, with large rooms, children’s pools and daily activity programmes to keep little ones entertained.
If your kids love the water, they’ll have a whale of a time at Aqualand waterpark. They can brave the Black Hole and Four Twisters while you relax in the jacuzzi or lazy river. Other options include a BBQ cruise or horse riding through the green hills.
If you’re after a dose of culture, visit the beautifully preserved Old Town, which has a clutch of Venetian monuments, leafy squares and remarkable architecture.
Greek holidays for couples: Halkidiki
It’s not just your partner that’ll make you swoon. With its romantic beaches, historic villages and gorgeous food, you’ll fall in love with Halkidiki, too.
From meandering around the cultural hotspots, such as Ancient Olynthus, to heading to chilled-out bars and eateries, Halkidiki is the perfect place to relax in the company of a loved one. And with more than 100 beaches to choose from, you’re guaranteed a secluded spot. If you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins frolicking in the sea.
At night, watch the sun go down as you share a meze platter and sip on a glass of ouzo. Find a cool beach club or enjoy a cocktail at a cool bar. Bliss.
Greek holidays for friends: Kos
Life’s a beach when you’re in Kos. This dreamy island boasts an amazing coastline and water sports, but perhaps its biggest draw is the vibrant nightlife.
The resort of Kardamena is a particular favourite among groups of friends. By day have fun in the sun on the golden sands and by night let loose in the cocktail bars. Kos also comes with a handful of aqua parks. One of our favourites is the Lido Waterpark in Mastichari.
Greek holidays for adventurers: Zante
Embrace your inner explorer in Zante. Picture-perfect Smuggler’s Cove is one of the most photographed places in Greece due to its famous shipwreck and a great place to snorkel.
Framed by limestone cliffs, this tranquil island is also one of the most popular spots for base jumpers as thrill-seekers can enjoy the best views of the clear azure water. Adventure-lovers can also go fishing for tuna and swordfish or scuba dive around the Keri Caves.
Greek holidays for foodies: Crete
Foodies, rejoice – Crete is a gastronomic delight. Famed for its olive oil, this historic island is home to rustic eateries serving the freshest meat, fish, cheeses and locally produced wines.
Drop into one of its delightful beachfront tavernas and tuck into the catch of the day or sample the slow-cooked lamb kleftiko. Be sure to try local specialities such as dakos, a dried bread or barley rusk topped with tomatoes, olive oil and creamy cheese. Myzithra is a sweet cheese used in pastries, while raki is the local tipple and tastes a bit like Italian grappa. Be warned – it’s strong stuff.
This diverse nation caters for every taste and traveller. Discover more about the Greece resorts we offer now and being planning your next getaway with Jet2holidays.
