High in the Pyrenees, where snow-covered peaks promise endless adventures, lies Grandvalira. With over 200km of interconnected pistes, you’ve landed in Andorra’s largest ski area. Add to that a rich culture, delicious food and a lively après scene and you’ve got winter paradise. Tempted? With handy Jet2.com ski flights to Barcelona Airport, plus the option to add 22kg hold baggage and ski carriage*, it couldn’t be easier to make your way to the mountains.

The resorts

Grandvalira isn’t just one resort, it’s a vast, linked area stretching across six villages, each with its own character. Soldeu’s a fab choice for families, home to excellent ski schools. El Tarter boasts some of the best freestyle facilities in the Pyrenees and has a youthful, energetic feel. Pas de la Casa is lively and social, while Grau Roig, Canillo and Encamp are quieter and great if you want to escape the crowds. Non-skier? There’s something for everyone here.  Snowshoe trails, dog-sledding, scenic gondolas, cosy viewpoint cafés and snowmobile tours will keep everyone entertained. In the mood to relax? Unwind in the spas in Soldeu and Caldea or nearby Andorra la Vella.

The slopes

Grandvalira’s fantastic for first-timers. The wide slopes in Canillo, Soldeu and Encamp allow you to learn at your own pace. The resort’s English-speaking ski schools will help you focus on building confidence, as well as technique. Expect gentle gradients and routes that let you feel in control from the first glide to the first linked turns. The majority of the terrain is perfect for intermediates too. The runs linking Soldeu and El Tarter are some of the best! Thrill-seeker? Dive into Grandvalira’s black runs and freeride areas. Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa have some of the most technical pistes, with sharp gradients. And don’t miss the El Tarter Snowpark, home to a medley of jumps, kickers and rails.

The après

After the lifts slow and the sun drops behind the peaks, you can get stuck into the medley of après activities. In Soldeu and El Tarter, après is upbeat with a sophisticated spin. Think live music, outdoor terraces and modern bars with craft cocktails or hot spiced drinks. You can’t visit without a trip to L’Abarset. Situated right at the base of the El Tarter lifts, it combines a restaurant, terrace and club. Fat Albert’s Bar & Restaurant is another top choice, housed in a converted ban. Pas de la Casa offers a livelier, late-night scene, ideal for those who want to keep the momentum going long after the last run. Looking for more of a laidback evening? Spa hotels and candlelit restaurants serving Andorran cuisine await.
