Calling all party animals! Dig out your disco shoes and slip into those sequins – these all-singing-all-dancing destinations sure know how to have a good time…
Budapest, Hungary
The Hungarian capital has summer fun sorted in the form of festivals, bar hopping and boat parties. Take Sziget festival for example. It’s in the calendar for 9-14 August 2023, and with past headliners including Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran and Foo Fighters – well, we’re expecting great things this time around too!
Not in town in August? Don’t worry, Budapest’s famous ruin bars keep the party pulsing all-summer-long. First stop: Szimpla Kert. The original Budapest ruin pub, this hip hangout is not to be missed. It’s probably the most famous one in the city, but if you blink, you might just miss it. From the outside, this looks like your average city apartment but step through the door of this abandoned building and you’ll find a magical space that’s filled with disco balls, eclectic signs and a whole range of mismatched furniture.

Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona needs no excuse to throw a party. As well as the jam-packed festival calendar, which includes Sonar, Elrow and Primavera Sound, you can also expect fun in other forms – think outdoor cinema screenings under the stars, comedy events, dance performances, traditional local celebrations… the list goes on!
Like things a little more low-key? For a little bit of Vegas in Barcelona, go and see the Magic Fountain (Font Màgica). The best time to visit is in the evening (Thursday to Sunday), when the lights and music give this dancing fountain a magical feel. There’s no admission fee, just head to the steps near the National Art Gallery.

The Algarve, Portugal
Secret Project, Rolling Loud and Afro Nation are just three for the festival ‘yes pile’ in the upbeat Algarve. Or, if neon-lit is more your kind of vibe, follow the bass to Albufeira’s unmissable Strip. Bob Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro in your map and follow the call of open-air discos and bars, and music and dancing that goes on until the early hours.
Want to add a bit of glitz to your Summer 2023 trip? Casino Vilamoura is just a stone's throw from the resort's glitzy marina. Along with live table games, where you can play roulette and blackjack, you'll find a cabaret show, disco, restaurants and bars inside the avant-garde building.

Mykonos, Greece
‘Party’ is Mykonos’ middle name, so seeking something swanky to do during summer here won’t be difficult. Whether you’re sipping something ice-kissed and sweet under the sunset’s amber glow or you’re pitched up in a beach club listening to chilled summer sounds – this oh-so glam island knows how to have a good time.
First stop, Mykonos Town, where Little Venice’s waterside cocktail spots are second to none. Book a table at bougainvillea-draped Negrita and you’ll have to meet a minimum spend, but with views like these – it’s worth every penny.
For amazing atmosphere and a range of music, nothing beats Skandinavian Bar and Club – a staple of the Mykonos party scene since 1978. Or if you’re after cocktails, drag shows and late-night DJs then Jackie O’ is your place. The best gay bar in Mykonos Town, its nightly drag shows and weekly fashion-themed parties are sure to make your Mykonos holiday unforgettable.

Benidorm, Costa Blanca
For an upbeat break that won’t break the bank, Benidorm’s at your service. Make a beeline for English Square and purple and blue neon will light up your night. Here, the drinks are always flowing, and you can dance the night away to club classics and cheesy disco tunes. Check out Sinatra’s or Café Benidorm, or for the younger crowd, Bahamas or Beachcomber.
