Budapest, Hungary

The Hungarian capital has summer fun sorted in the form of festivals, bar hopping and boat parties. Take Sziget festival for example. It’s on the calendar for 6-11 August 2025, and with past headliners including Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran and Foo Fighters – well, we’re expecting great things this time around too!

Not in town in August? Don’t worry, Budapest’s famous ruin bars keep the party pulsing all-summer-long. First stop: Szimpla Kert. The original Budapest ruin pub, this hip hangout is not to be missed. It’s probably the most famous one in the city, but if you blink, you might just miss it. From the outside, this looks like your average city apartment but step through the door of this abandoned building and you’ll find a magical space that’s filled with disco balls, eclectic signs and a whole range of mismatched furniture.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona needs no excuse to throw a party. As well as the jam-packed festival calendar, which includes Sonar, Festa Major de Gracia and Primavera Sound, you can also expect fun in other forms – think comedy events, dance performances, traditional local celebrations… the list goes on and on!

Fancy something more chilled out? August can get quite hot in Barcelona, so we recommend evening time for your outings. Our top pick is a cinema on the beach! Bourgas, Bulgaria

Looking for a cheap and cheerful party? Bulgaria is the one for you! Neon lights always shine bright in Sunny Beach, but the summertime is when the crowds come out and music festivals fill the beachfront promenades. The coolest kid on the block is SPICE Music Festival, returning to the Black Sea Coast for another year.

SPICE is a one-night event, so bring the energy and bring a lot of it. All genres mix here and there’s even Bulgarian bites and interactive experiences to attend before putting your dancing shoes on. So, mark 8-9 August on your calendar and start planning that Bulgarian break!

The Algarve, Portugal

Secret Project, Rolling Loud and Afro Nation are just three for the festival ‘yes pile’ in the upbeat Algarve. Or, if neon-lit is more your kind of vibe, follow the bass to Albufeira’s unmissable Strip. Bob Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro in your map and follow the call of open-air discos and bars, and music and dancing that goes on until the early hours.
