1. Purobeach Illetas, Majorca

Past Arabesque towns and rocky outcrops, Illetas in Majorca lays claim to a chic hangout for revellers. Head down to the relaxing natural enclave of Purobeach Illetas for drinks on the terrace or chill time on a lounger. It even offers the Full Moon party, dedicated to blending art, gastronomy, music and mystery together.

2. El Chiringuito, Marbella

It doesn’t get much more glam than Marbs. For an unrivalled Mediterranean vibe where you can sip sangria and sample sumptuous seafood, El Chiringuito, the Hotel Puente Romano’s beach club, is a winner. Its sophistication knows no bounds and it’s one of Marbella’s most acclaimed sunset spots.

3. Red Fish, Barcelona

Where better to team city slicking with beachfront lazing than Barcelona? Red Fish is a sensational pick for light bites and ice-cold drinks by the water’s edge. Anyone for salted anchovies, crab salad, fried almonds or Andalusian squid?

4. Maxx Royal Kemer Resort, Antalya

Unapologetically lavish, Antalya is one of Turkey’s swishest areas. The impressive Maxx Royal Kemer Resort is a fab example of where to dine by the sea. It has designated Italian, Japanese and fish sections of its main restaurant, but for a drop of red or your favourite cocktail, make it the Black Diamond Bar.

5. Peligoni Club, Zante

In line with Greece’s traditional side, this bohemian beach club is family run. With vast sea views ahead and fantastic food and drink, you can get a flavour of Zante’s laid-back side. Recline on the deck by the pool, try dishes curated by guest chefs and nurse a G&T. It's members-only and passes are available to buy per person, per week.

6. Chambao, Ibiza

Part of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay’s offering, Chambao specialises in casual dining right on the golden grains. Whether you’d prefer a healthy salad, rich paella or freshly-netted fish, palate-pleasing treats are easy to come by. The wine list is excellent too. It’s among Ibiza’s coolest hideouts.

7. 10 Punto 7, Formentera

Journey from Ibiza to Formentera in the direction of Playa Migjorn. That’s where you’ll come across 10 Punto 7, a trendy Mediterranean restaurant known for its Asian cuisine. This sand-dusted nook is especially pretty at sundown.

8. Laganini, Hvar

Heady Hvar is fast becoming one of Europe’s best places for partying. Grab a boat transfer to this beach club and you’ll be bowled over by the gorgeous waterfront-meets-forest setting. Sit down to sushi or grilled octopus and leaf through the extensive drinks menu. Champagne, anyone? After all, it was good enough for the cast of Made in Chelsea!

9. Le Club 55, Saint-Tropez

Sophistication is in Saint-Tropez’s veins. This remarkable Riviera patch has a Hollywood heritage and has been home to Le Club 55 since, quite obviously, 1955. It’s a friendly place brimming with foodie options.

10. Sasso by the Sea, Amalfi Coast

Now known as Palazzo Avino’s Clubhouse by the Sea, this by-the-beach platform is a lazy base for a few drinks in the sun, tasty Italian platters and lush coastal views. It’s only 15 minutes from Ravello and even has a small pool.

Think one of these has your name on it? Europe’s best beach clubs are calling!
