Emily in Paris: filming locations you can visit

Get set to saunter in style around the French capital as you visit these fab filming locations of hit TV show, Emily in Paris. Lights, camera, action...

Beret on head, croissant in hand, you too can now totter around the fanciful French capital in search of – no, not Gabriel – the filming locations of Darren Star’s sensational series. Emily in Paris has been the word on everyone’s lips for many a season now, so if, like us, you’ve been eyeing up the astonishing arrondissements and swooning over the sights, it’s about time you considered a Jet2CityBreak there.

Need a helping hand with writing your itinerary? Grab a pen and paper, and some comfier shoes than you’d find on a Pierre Cadault rack, and let’s take on Paris like Emily would...

Place de l’Estrapade

There’s no Place like home, and this is where Miss Cooper settles into her new apartment, ahead of meeting a certain monsieur chef and his omelette pan. You’ll recognise the charming centrepiece fountain in the middle outside, surrounded by cute benches and lots of greenery, while the restaurant Gabriel works in sits just across the road. On your travels, you’ll also spy stores like the bakery where Emily tucked into her first buttery mouthful of pain au chocolat bliss. We’re hungry just thinking about it.

Montmartre

Arguably one of the trendiest districts in Paris, Montmartre is a characterful corner of the city, which dazzles with its quaintness. It’s technically a large hill, enveloped by coffee shops and dinky boutiques, but studded by the breathtaking basilica known as the Sacré-Coeur. But here, you’ll also stumble upon some of the prettiest streets on the block, including the peony-pink perfection called the Maison Rose. It’s a building that’s effortlessly Insta-worthy, so get your camera ready for selfies – just like Emily would, after all!

Bonus: La Nouvelle Eve is the real name of the jazz club Mindy sings in (which the show calls ‘La Trompette Bleue’), and that’s right here as well.

Place de Valois

Just around the corner from the iconic, glass-encased gallery, the Louvre is where you’ll find Emily’s office. The oh-so chic Savoir was plotted at 6 Place de Valois and, although it doesn’t actually exist, you can still amble over to where it would be if you were on screen too. So while you’ll have to use your imagination a little, you can let it be the springboard to meeting the Mona Lisa.

Jardin du Palais Royal

This is where Emily had her first lunch break and she met Mindy, which of course paved the way – in the most picturesque fashion – for their blossoming friendship. It’s lined with trees, flowerbeds and hedge-speckled benches, and a duo of Michelin-starred restaurants sit just on the outskirts. But if picnics are more your bag, pack one full of French fancies like baguettes and saucisson (salami) or cheese, and you’ve got yourself a glam DIY meal. Make the moment last by doing as the girls did and snapping a selfie by the fountain.

Atelier des Lumières

Welcome to a unique immersive space that’s taken the art world to a whole new level. You may have seen pop-ups of a similar nature appearing across different cities now, but this superb space was the first of its kind to host digital exhibitions of famous works. Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night (1888) is what Emily, Gabriel and Camille awkwardly went to see together. Check the calendar before you go and see if the dates align for you to catch one of the all-encompassing events during your trip – it's nothing short of enchanting!

Quartier Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Bienvenue to another part of Paris that you simply have to unlock. It’s got all sorts waiting for you to uncover, including a couple of watering holes destined for the history books. While Les Deux Magots is among the ones to go to, it’s Café de Flore that already has a reputation that precedes it – beyond Emily in Paris fame too! That’s because it was a renowned haunt of writers, designers, actors and actresses – we're talking Ernest Hemingway, Brigitte Bardot and even Yves Saint-Laurent. Now, how’s that for A-list?

Eiffel Tower

Incredible in iron by day, spectacularly sparkly by night, Gustave Eiffel’s namesake tower is quite the marvel – and it’s synonymous with the capital. In many a scene, you’ll spot it peeping out in the background, while Emily’s gallivanting around the city. But be sure to go one further and take a tour of the lattice landmark – the views from the top are vast! Or if heights aren’t your thing, you could always have a stroll up the Champ de Mars, which leads to the Eiffel Tower, instead. Mais oui!
