If you’re searching for a destination that blends stunning scenery with genuine Greek charm, Thassos is hard to beat. It’s a place where you can slow down, explore freely and enjoy a more peaceful side of Greece. It’s one of Greece's best-kept secrets!
Where is Thassos?
Thassos sits in the northern Aegean Sea, just off Greece’s mainland. Unlike some other Greek islands, you can’t fly directly there, so you’ll need to take a short ferry from the mainland, which adds to its off-the-beaten-path charm.
Getting there
On a Jet2holiday to Thassos, you’ll fly into Kavala International Airport, then take a ferry across to the island. The crossing is around 40 minutes long, so you can take in the sea views and be there in what feels like no time.
The best beaches
After golden beaches with calm, shallow water? You’ve come to the right place here! Thassos is famous for its stunning coastline, and there’s a whole host of sandy spots to choose from. Some of the highlights include:
Golden Beach – long, sandy and family-friendly
Marble Beach – unique white pebbles and turquoise water
Paradise Beach – exotic scenery and shallow waters
Whether you prefer secluded coves or vibrant beach bars, there’s something for everyone.
Top things to do
Beyond its blissful beaches, Thassos has plenty more to explore:
- Wander through the traditional mountain village of Panagia
- Visit the ancient ruins of the Ancient Agora of Thassos
- Hike through pine forests and discover hidden waterfalls
- Take a scenic drive around the island’s coastal road
Food and drink
Bit of a foodie? Greek cuisine is big business in Thassos. Expect fresh seafood, grilled meats, local honey and olive oil produced right here on the island. Dining is pretty relaxed and welcoming, often served up with some beautiful sea views.
Where to stay
There’s a fab selection of resorts to choose from in Thassos. Choose Limenaria or Potos for lively streets and beaches, while quieter areas like Skala Rahoni or Skala Prinos suit relaxation. The capital, Thassos Town, AKA Limenas, is also a great pick for a chilled-out break.
