Tenerife is home to a handful of striking black sand beaches. You can find Playa de la Arena on the west coast where fine volcanic sands and crystal-clear waters are the standard. This spot is perfect if a laidback atmosphere suits you down to the ground with plenty of amenities nearby.

Why not head to Puerto de la Cruz to visit Playa Jardin? If you’re hiring a car or enjoy a bus ride, it’s easy to tick off two picturesque black sand beaches. Here, lush gardens and dramatic cliffs complement the dark sands perfectly, setting the scene for your R&R.

The 325 San Francisco line connects Puerto de la Cruz and La Arena, taking one hour and 45 minutes along the coast. Or by car, one hour and 15 minutes via the TF-5.
