Agadir, on Morocco's Atlantic coast, is a vibrant region known for its beautiful beaches and laidback atmosphere. While Agadir itself is a great spot, there’s a handful of fantastic day trips you can take to explore more of Morocco's culture, nature and history.
Here are just a few of our favourite day trips from Agadir:
Agadir city
Starting in the city itself, get among the hustle and bustle in these buzzy streets. You can tick off the Kasbah with its panoramic views or the vibrant Souk El Had for local food and crafts. The relaxing Agadir Marina is also not to be missed!
- 5-10 minutes away from Agadir
- Great for shopping at the souk and sampling local food
Taghazout
What was once a small fishing village has turned into a hugely popular surf spot – one of the biggest in Morocco, in fact! Taghazout is known for its go-slow vibe, world-class surfing spots (like Anchor Point) and charming cafés and restaurants for when it’s time to refuel. Even if you’re not really into surfing, the coastal beauty and local seafood make it worth the trip!
- 30 minutes from Agadir
- Great for surfers and beach bums
Paradise Valley
This scenic oasis with crystal-clear pools, small waterfalls and palm trees is perfect for swimming, hiking or just simply kicking back. This area forms part of the High Atlas Mountains, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful escape from the city and beach resorts.
There are also lots of local cafés right on the waterfront, where you can enjoy traditional Moroccan food and dip your toes in the stream.
- 45-60 minutes from Agadir
- Great for hikers, walkers and nature-lovers
Marrakech
Though a longer day trip, Marrakech offers a whirlwind of culture, history and sensory experiences. Visit the iconic Jemaa el-Fna square, explore Jardin Majorelle, the Koutoubia Mosque or Bahia Palace. Shop in the vibrant souks and tuck into Moroccan cuisine at a rooftop café. Not forgetting to sample a glass of mint tea!
- 2.5-3 hours from Agadir
- Great for history, culture and architecture, and the draws of a big, bustling city!
