Is there anything better than sipping an ice-cold cocktail and soaking up dramatic views? In a city brimming with sky-high spots, it can be tricky to find the perfect one. With that in mind, we’ve scoured every corner of magical Marrakech to bring you a list of the city’s best rooftop bars. These lofty locations have got plenty to shout about...
Cafe Arabe
As you weave your way through the cobbled streets of the Medina, you might just stumble across the ochre-hued arches of Cafe Arabe. Up top, it’s all decked out with comfortable sofas and colourful cushions where you can nurse a mojito or graze on Moroccan or Italian food favourites. Have a nosy down below and you’ll feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of market-filled streets.
Aqua
This central spot enjoys prime position on the edge of the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. It’s fairly basic, with terracotta tiles and swirly metal chairs, but what it lacks in fancy décor, it more than makes up for in stunning views. Grab yourself a smoothie or a non-alcoholic cocktail and watch as the sun turns the sky into a colourful canvas of oranges, reds and pinks.
Dardar
Boasting a cocktail menu equally impressive as its panoramic views is boho beauty, Dardar. Choose from cool classics like Aperol spritz and mojito, or go for a signature cocktail like Dandy, a sweet number featuring caramelised popcorn-infused bourbon, peach cream and orange juice – yum! If the Instagrammable cocktails weren’t enough, the sensational views should seal the deal.
La Salama Sky Bar
When you’re all shopped out from the souks, find sanctuary in this sky-high spot. With leafy greenery suspended from the ceiling and huge glass windows, it seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor seating, sheltering you from the breeze and providing you with some well-needed shade, without compromising those pinch-me panoramic views.
There’s an extensive cocktail list along with a happy hour every day before 18:30 and after 22:00 – something that’s not so easy to find in Marrakech!
Tucked away in a discreet corner of the city’s souks, you might easily miss this Moroccan treasure’s unassuming entrance way. Once an old carpet store, it now boasts two rooftops, with the rest of the restaurant spread over another two floors. Strung with wicker lanterns that frame the skyline and comfy seating, it makes for a truly picture-perfect evening.
And while there’s no boozy cocktails here, you’ll have some pretty tasty teas, coffees and fruit juices to choose from. The orange, carrot, ginger and turmeric juice has got a lovely kick to it!
