We’re firm believers that major milestones deserve a major holiday. Whether you’re dreading it, or welcoming it, nothing beats kickstarting a new decade in a new destination. 30 looks good on you...

Iceland
This land of geysers and glaciers should be top of your list if exploring and adventure is your bag. And what could be more bucket list than catching a glimpse of the twinkling auroras this country’s famous for? Take the hassle out of planning and book one of our Discover More trips, where you’ll have a Northern Lights tour included at selected hotels. If you’ve overdone it with the celebrating, make a beeline for the thermal spas. The Sky Lagoon offers a seven-step experience, which will leave you feeling rested and refreshed.

Morocco
Wanting to blow out your candles somewhere sunny? Step right this way. With souks for shoppers and museums for potters, Morocco has many feathers in its cap. Head for Marrakech if sightseeing is top of your agenda or check out Agadir for chilled out beach days. Whichever you choose, food is sure to be a focal point. Memorable meals are to be had everywhere, from spicy stews to veg-studded couscous. Mint tea is another staple. It’s a symbol of tradition and friendship and pairs perfectly with a flaky pastry.

The Dolomites, Italy
Up in the UNESCO-stamped Dolomites, a birthday bash is more about early starts to make the first lifts than late nights on the dancefloor. With Jet2 flights to Verona and Venice, you can be swishing down the slopes in no time. This is a true winter wonderland, home to over 1,200km of pistes. Take on the Sella Ronda, a 40km circuit which crosses the valleys of Val Gardena, Val Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa. Selva is one of the liveliest spots in the area, with plenty of apres-ski activities on offer.

Ibiza
Looking to live it large? Ibiza’s a bit of an expert in that area. This birthday-ready base is flush with beach bars, nightclubs and hippy markets. Good times are guaranteed in hotspots like San Antonio and Playa D’En Bossa, but a more laidback vibe can be found if you know where to look. Portinatx, on the northern coast, is a place where you can switch to do-not-disturb mode. Santa Eulalia’s another low-key locale, where days are spent hopping from boutique to beach, and evenings are made for al fresco dinners around the marina.

Santorini, Greece
Tick off another rotation around the sun in style in Santorini. Come for the iconic blue-domed houses, perched on steep cliffs, but stay for the traditional tavernas and off-the-beaten-path gems. For the best views, don your walking shoes and tackle some of the trails around Fira and along the caldera’s edge. The island’s small size means you can pack plenty into your day and still be back home in time for those staggering sunsets. You’ll want to pencil in a few days for lounging on the volcanic beaches too.
