Dreaming of spending your holiday in one of Tuscany’s top-notch beach resorts? Maybe you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and want a beach within day-tripping distance? Well, you’ve hit the jackpot here on the Tuscan coast. Grab your towel and flip-flops – let's hit the beach!

Tirrenia Beach
If you’re looking for a sandy spot just a stone’s throw from central Pisa, Tirrenia Beach ticks all the boxes. It’s a long stretch of sand, so you won’t struggle to find a spot. If you want to save your pennies, there’s plenty of space to throw down your towel, or you can splash out on a sunlounger.
Sporty types can get involved in all manner of beach activities like volleyball, football and tennis.

La Principessa
Further along the coast, La Principessa Beach is the place to be for crystal-clear water on the Etruscan Coast. It’s super shallow too, which is ideal if you’re looking for somewhere to spend the day with the little ones.
To reach the beach, you’ll walk through a lush, pine-green forest where there’s also picnic benches. Why not pick up some picky bits and dine on the beach?
Dog Beach
Calling all dog lovers! Located in San Vincenzo, Dog Beach has a long sandy stretch and shallow waters, where these perfect pooches can dart up and down the beach and splash in the water to their heart’s content.
There are showers and plenty of fresh water, along with a shady forest towards the back of the beach - perfect for avoiding the hottest point of the day.

Just a short, 25-minute drive from Lucca, Viareggio is a beach resort with all the bells and whistles. We’re talking cabanas, sunloungers, colourful parasols and lots of beachfront cafes – everything's in an organised fashion here. The main beach runs right along the front of the town and offers everything a beach bum could want.
The sand is soft and fine and the water’s calm and clear. Plus, it’s backed by a promenade and art deco/nouveau buildings, so you’ll never be too far from a tasty gelato spot or a seafood restaurant.

Spiaggia del Tonfano
The Tuscan coast is famed for its large, organised beaches and Spaggia del Tonfano is no different. To get here, you’ll have to drive to the beach resort of Marina di Pietrasanta, a seaside resort favourited by locals and tourists alike, thanks to its amazing facilities and wheelchair-accessible beaches.
When you’re finished sandcastle building, you’ll find bars and restaurants galore where you can spend the evening dining on spectacular seafood.
Cala Violina
Located between Follonica and Punta Ala, this hidden gem is not to be missed. It can only be accessed on foot or by bike, so you can relax in peace and quiet away from all the crowds.
Located within a nature reserve, you won’t find a more beautiful beach than this. It’s ivory grains and glassy waters are your ticket to beachfront bliss.
