If you’re planning a holiday to Sharm El Sheikh and want to spend time on the best beaches, whether it’s swimming, snorkelling, diving or simply relaxing, here are some of our top picks that you should check out.
Each beach in Sharm offers something a little different, from lively nightlife and buzzy beach bars to tranquil bays with coral gardens under the water.
Sunnies and snorkel at the ready – we're off for a beach day...
Naama Bay Beach
Naama Bay is probably the most famous and accessible beach in the area. It boasts soft sand, calm shallow waters and plenty of amenities – that’s hotels, cafés, restaurants and shops right on the promenade.
It’s also a fab spot for water sports. Think swimming, paddleboarding, scuba diving or simply snorkelling near the shore.
Naama Bay is also the spot with the best nightlife. As the sun sets, the bay comes alive with bars, live music and a vibrant, tourist-friendly atmosphere.
Sharks Bay Beach
Despite its dramatic name, Shark’s Bay is actually one of the more peaceful and relaxed beaches in the region – perfect if you want to avoid the crowds.
The waters here are clear, and coral reefs are easily accessible, so snorkelling and scuba diving are definitely on the cards. Lots of dive centres line the bay, offering direct access via jetties and piers to underwater coral gardens and reefs.
El Fanar Beach
Treat yourself to a day at El Fanar’s more exclusive beach. Here, you can hire loungers for the day and enjoy the handy amenities like a bar, café, parasols and toilets. Ideal if you’re after comfort and style combined.
There are small areas of public beach available too, if you’d just prefer to roll out your towel and kick back on the sand.
Ras Um Sid Beach
Close to El Fanar, you’ll find Ras Um Sid Beach. This stretch of sand has a more rustic and natural feel to it. Plus, its cliffs and coastal features provide some beautiful sea views!
Again, as with most Red Seat coast beaches, underwater exploring is big business here too.
Ras Nasrani Beach
To the north of Sharks Bay, you’ll find our next sandy stop. This reef-rich beach area is famed for its vivid coral gardens, clear waters and abundant marine life. Local divers often spot coral-covered plateaus, gorgonian fans, reef fish, rays and even manta rays and whale sharks! With soft sand and shallow zones, it offers a gentle, relaxing seaside vibe.
Nabq Bay
For peace and quiet on your beach day, make a beeline for Nabq Bay, which is a tranquil spot, away from the touristy hustle and bustle. Its more natural surroundings just add to that chilled-out vibe.
It lies within a protected area, which helps preserve its coral reefs and marine life, so it’s a nice spot for gentle snorkelling or just enjoying the calm water.
This more low-key beach is popular with couples and families looking for a slower-paced day out.
