Best beaches in Lefkas

Looking for brilliant beaches in Lefkas? Look no further. From secluded spots to lively hangouts, here’s a rundown of the best.

If you’re a beach lover, then you’ll feel like you’ve struck gold when you land in Lefkas. This charming Greek island is home to numerous sandy spots that are guaranteed to take your breath away.

Lefkas is the perfect choice if you want to experience a different side of classic Greece. It sits below Corfu off the country’s west coast, only separated from the mainland by a small causeway.

When it comes to beaches, Lefkas has plenty to shout about. Not sure where to head first to lay down your towel? Here are five of our favourites:

1. Agios Ioannis Beach

Around a 30-minute walk from the island’s capital, Lefkas Town, you’ll find this rugged and natural beach. Backed by a handful of charming windmills, this Blue Flag beauty boasts crystal-clear water and some seriously big waves.

It’s a popular spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers but if you enjoy a breeze as you sunbathe, then it will be perfect for you too. There’s a surf school right on the beach which offers semi private lessons for beginners to pros, so if you’re looking to try something new on your holiday, why not give it a go? The shore itself is quite pebbly, so don’t forget to bring your water shoes!

2. Egremni Beach

Want to feel like you’ve been transported directly to the Caribbean? Egremni Beach will do just that. Right down on the island’s south-west coast, it needs to be seen to be believed. Its cyan-blue water sparkles in the sunlight and looks extra bright against its sugary-white sands.

It’s a bit of steep walk down the cliffside but it’s totally worth it when you get to admire these spectacular seascapes.

3. Agios Nikitas

Further south along the coast from Agios Ioannis Beach, Agios Nikitas is the place to be for spectacular sea views. The water glows in a bluey-turquoise colour and it’s so clear, you can see right to the bottom. You’ll soon see why snorkelling is so popular here!

For the ultimate view, take a seat in On the Rock Café and you’ll feel like you’re right on the water’s edge. Why not stop for a refreshing drink and enjoy the vista? Heading away from the beach, you can stroll through charming streets lined with pavement cafés.

4. Milos Beach

Just along the coast from Agios Nikitas, this little hidden gem is not to be missed. Secluded Milos Beach can only be accessed by hiking uphill through a woodland or hopping on a taxi boat from nearby Agios Nikitas, so you can relax and unwind in peace away from the crowds. If you choose to walk, make sure you’ve got sensible shoes on as things can get pretty rocky underfoot.

En route, remember to stop to take photos of the beach from above, when you can truly appreciate the bold colours of the sea. Despite its remote location, there are still a few rows of sunbeds to choose from, that’s if you can tear yourself away from the glittering ocean. Lastly, there are no cafés or bars on this beach, so pack up a picnic with plenty of water if you plan on heading here for the day.

5. Ponti-Vasiliki Beach

Ponti-Vasiliki is a windsurfer’s paradise. Along the windswept south coast, this pebble beach should be top of your wish list if you’re looking for an active day out. The headland protects the bay from big waves, so although the wind is strong, the water is still relatively calm, making it ideal for swimming.

Not experienced in windsurfing? Don’t worry. There’s a windsurf club and school which offers private lessons as well as plenty of kit hire.
