When you fly into Innsbruck, you’ll unlock a plethora of perfectly primed pistes across the Austrian Alps. And when the slopes shut, the après-ski starts. So, whether you’re all about delayering and dancing on tables until dawn or cosying up with a cup of something steamy by the fire, there’s a spot to suit everyone.
Mayrhofen
Nestled between two different mountains, Mayrhofen has powdery pistes and amazing après. Seasoned skiers can challenge themselves and take on the steepest slope in Austria, the Harakiri, while the rest of the gang can whizz between the intertwined red and blue runs.
Ice Bar
Get ready for all-day dancing down at Ice Bar, one of Mayrhofen’s most popular après-ski spots. It’s right next to the Penken chairlift, so you can go from lift to lager in minutes. It’s all about cheesy music and plenty of boot stomping.
Scotland Yard Pub
You’ll feel right at home in this Austrian-English Pub, which gets its name from the former police headquarters that sat on the site. Cosy up by the fire or soak up the mountain panoramas out on the terrace.
St Anton
Mountain villages don’t come more authentic than St Anton. A pristine pick for expert skiers, with superb steep runs on the Valluga Peak and a web of linked runs across the famous Arlberg. Its nightlife is pretty legendary too, with many of the bars at the bottom of the home runs and along the main street providing live music and dancing into the small hours.
The Mooserwirt
From 3pm until 8pm, après activity centres around this iconic spot, with a father and son DJ duo pumping out the biggest and best tunes all afternoon. And if you need some post-ski fuel, you can take your pick from burgers, steak, ribs and wings!
Krazy Kangaruh
À la carte meets après at Krazy Kangaruh, a mountainside bar on the run down from Gampen. Hailed as the oldest one of its kind on the mountain, they pride themselves on being the place where bottles are always popped, friendships are formed, and palates are indulged. Come 4pm, the atmosphere really ramps up when the DJ takes to the decks.
Ischgl
This upmarket town is renowned for its fab nightlife all season round! It boasts some of Austria’s best intermediate skiing and great conditions throughout the season. The wider resort is all olde worlde wooden buildings and colourful Austrian spires but make your way to the centre and things get a lot more glamourous. Think boutiques and bars around every corner. Take your pick from over 20 nightlife spots and let the après-ski begin!
Trofana Alm
When you think of après-ski, you normally picture somewhere like Trofana Alm with its wooden beams, snow dusted steps and sizeable steins, creating that real alpine magic. Expect regular visits from international DJs along with regular live music to kick-start your ski trip. Aside from the partying, there’s also an extensive menu of nibbly bits to choose from.
Saalbach
Looking for a lively atmosphere and skiing for all abilities? Saalbach will be right up your street. It’s a central part of the superb Skicircus region with 270km of slopes to cover, including the renowned Hinterglemm. Modern lift facilities, easy-to-reach areas and a connecting gondola – it really is a one-size-fits-all resort. And there’s plenty for party lovers too, thanks to over 30 bars across the resort.
Hinterhag Alm
Nestled on the mountain, Hinterhag Alm boasts some picture-perfect views of the slopes. Like the resort itself, this après-ski spot has got all-age appeal which only adds to the fun.
