Barcelona is a kaleidoscope of city life, renowned architecture and incredible cuisine, but it certainly shouldn’t be overlooked as a gateway for winter sports. From this incredible city, you have great transport links to the best skiing spots in the Pyrenees, all with varying après-ski activities. Let’s get this snow on the road and see which resort suits you…
Masella, Spain
In Masella, you can find a busy yet laidback après-ski, perfect for couples and groups. If you’re looking to let go after a full-on day of sports, Masella Mood Lounge suits a hip crowd with DJ sets and a steady flow of drinks. Skibar Masella also serves superb cuisine with friendly service and great views – it’s a great spot when you’re ready to warm up. And it’s conveniently positioned at the foot of the slopes!
Pas de la Casa, Andorra
Pas de la Casa, in the Grandvalira ski area, is not to be missed if a lively atmosphere and a string of bars sounds like your ideal post-ski bag. Start in Olimpiades Restaurant & Snack Bar on your last run of the day to hit happy hour and some live music. Then, you can choose from Paddy’s Irish Bar, equipped with a pool table or the Underground Bar which is open until the early hours of the morning.
Soldeu, Andorra
Another sector of Grandvalira renowned for its great atmosphere is Soldeu. Although it’s smaller than Pas de la Casa, it makes up for it with its après-ski offering. You’ll find a great family-run Irish bar called The Harp where you can join in raffles, enjoy live music and even play your hand in table-football tournaments. Not to forget Barcode, where terrace barbecues and open mic jam sessions take place regularly. You’re sold, right? If not, Fat Alberts is bound to do the trick… Take a 300-year-old barn and picture this: a ski-instructor band, a balance of locals and tourists, and friendly staff. The list goes on…
La Molina, Spain
Like things low-key? La Molina is a great resort for young families with some scrumptious eateries to fill up in after your skiing adventures. Although there aren’t any nightclubs, there are a few quiet spots to have a drink, as well as bowling and an exciting arcade for some family fun.
El Tarter, Andorra
Novices flock to El Tarter for its beginner’s area and gentle blue slopes. There are also some reds for when you’ve unlocked your confidence. As for this small town’s après-ski, l’Abarset packs in trendy music and tasty food - it’s a great one for breakfast! Riba Escorxada, also known as Terrassa Snow Club, is also a hip place decked out with a terrace, chill out area, sofas and a DJ booth. Cocktail anyone? Veuve Clicquot in the Snow is also a great option for a chic spot serving gourmet food and champagne on ice…
