Greece

ZANTE

We caught up with Emma Waterworth, Area Manager for East Greece to ask her all the top questions on the gorgeous Greek island of Zante.

Tell us about the main spots in Zante…

“Tsilivi is great for families as there is something for everyone. There’s a huge selection of bars and restaurants as well as an amusement park, waterpark and bowling alley. Water sports on the beach are also a great way to have fun with the kids. Laganas is a world-famous party spot for the livelier groups to dance the night away and for the more romantically inclined, I would suggest a candlelit dinner overlooking the sea in any of the beach resorts.”

What’s the best thing about Zante?

“Its friendly locals and welcoming atmosphere. Greece as a whole country has so much to offer, and once people come here, they usually fall in love with what the locals call the 'Island of Dreams'.”

Are there any beaches that are off the beaten track?

“I love the small village of Ammoudi in the North of the Island. It has a selection of small, secluded coves which most people don't know about, so you feel like you have your very own private beach.”

What are your three ‘must-dos’ for anyone visiting the area?

“Visiting the famous Navagio shipwreck cove is a must, going to see the local loggerhead turtles is also an amazing experience and just exploring off the beaten track with a drive up into the mountains and stopping for lunch along the way.”

CHANIA, CRETE

We had a quick chinwag with Melissa Davies, Resort Team Leader in Crete…

What’s the best thing about Crete?

“It’s the beaches – we are really spoiled and blessed. From award-winning Blue Flag sandy beaches to Elafonissi’s pink sands. There’s also the offshore islands of Gramvoussa and Balos Lagoons that were visited recently by Gordan Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix on their Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip series!”

Can you tell us about some of your favourite local beach bars?

Cabana Mare Beach Club near Agia Marina has the most amazing cocktails. It’s really easily accessible as it’s just off the sand and it’s the place to be seen whatever age you are. My ultimate favourite is Tersanas Beach as it’s where I brought up both my children and we have some amazing memories there. It’s great for families as the sand shelves gently into the sea.”

Rhodes

Now, we island-hop across to Rhodes to talk to Jane Harrington, Resort Customer Helper for her thoughts on Rhodes…

Give us a flavour of what we can expect in Rhodes…

“Rhodes offers something for everyone. There’s the romantic village of Lindos with its white-washed houses and restaurants that have rooftop dining with Acropolis views. Rhodes Town offers the famous Old City with its history and culture that both adults and children adore. Rhodes also has many beach resorts such as Pefkos, Kiotari and Kalithea, that are perfect for families. The island also has many open-air night clubs, along with elegant and sophisticated bars, perfect to relax and have fun in.”

What’s the best thing about Rhodes?

“Rhodes is rich in variety from the landscape to the culture and resorts. There are so many places to explore, including traditional villages, beautiful beaches, archaeological sites, a large variety of hotels, and off the beaten track nature trails. One visit to Rhodes is never enough!”

Cyprus

Simon Hill, Senior Product Executive spills the beans on the marvellous Mediterranean island of Cyprus…

Why is Cyprus a popular family destination?

“Both Larnaca Area and Paphos Area offer great family holidays. Larnaca has great beaches, especially in Protaras and Nissi Bay, Ayia Napa with golden sands and clear shallow waters. Paphos offers golden beaches, an attractive harbour and many historical sights. Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark, WaterWorld Waterpark Ayia Napa and Fasouri Watermania Waterpark in Limassol are great for family fun. Many hotels offer great All Inclusive packages and some offer onsite waterparks included in the package.”

Why do people love holidaying in Cyprus?

“People return to Cyprus year after year due to the excellent weather leading to long summer seasons, great beaches, quality hotels and the vast variety of history to explore. The exceptional hospitality ensures holiday makers feel very welcome which has a lasting impression when it comes to booking future holidays.”

Ayt Antalya Kaleici Old Town 526535619

Turkey

And last but not least, we head over to tranquil Turkey for the lowdown on this dazzling country with Resort Customer Helper Stephanie Kapci.

What parts of the country are good for families, romance and fun?

“For families. I’d say Eftalia Island hotel and resort is not to be missed. It has everything from pools and splash parks to an aqua park and entertainment! Turkey is amazing for shopping and it can be found right on your doorstep whether its markets, shopping malls or bazaars.”

“For fun, it’s got to be the Jeep safaris that take you off-road and through villages and mountains. And for romance, in the heart of Kaleici, you’ll find cobbled streets that wind all the way down to the picturesque harbour. There are lots of hidden jewels of bars, restaurants and boutique-style hotels.”

What are your three must-dos for anyone visiting the area?

“You’ve got to visit the ancient city of Perge, Aspendos, the best-preserved ancient theatre in the world, and go up the cable car to the top of Tahtali mountain, which is the second highest cable car in Europe.”
