Treat yourself to a sun-drenched getaway to lush Lefkas. Across the island – which is connected to the mainland by a super-thin strip of causeway – you’ll find plenty of activities to get stuck into. Major resorts, such as Nidri and Vasiliki, provide endless exciting sports, wellness classes and outings.
Let us show you around what’s beyond Lefkada Town…

Island life
Around different pockets of the island, you’ll find almost mini-communes, where people unite in a common interest – being active. For something different, sailing is on offer in the coastal resorts. You can sail off to nearby caves or small patches of beach on dinky islands. Paddleboarding is another firm fave with those who enjoy staying active while on their jollies.

Vibrant Vasiliki
The harbourside town of Vasiliki has bags going on. To the right of the traditional eateries around the colourful waterfront, you’ll find the pebbly beach where all the action happens. There’s a medley of restaurants and sports shops laying on classes dotted around – it’s there that you should begin if you’re keen to get stuck in.
Vasiliki Beach is best known for its windsurfing potential. Hit the shorefront and you’ll see various lessons taking place, while the pros command the waves further out in the distance. You can also tackle the surfing scene or jump in a dinghy. Failing that, how about just a swim or a fun kayaking session?
What makes it especially clear that Vasiliki has a strong focus on wellness is its range of workout classes. If you’re staying locally – or even just want to join in for the day – you’ll have a wealth of choice. We’re talking aerobics, yoga, HIIT, tabata, ‘stretch and relax’ routines – all sorts. The vibe is chilled, so you can hang out on a lounger and savour healthy smoothies and salads afterwards. Why not get to know everyone else in the community over low-key drinks at sundown?

Non-stop Nidri
You can step things up a gear in Nidri. This characterful resort is teeming with life and scattered with souvenir stores, cute bakeries and plenty of classic Greek restaurants. There’s a strip of beach that’s nice and relaxing too, so it’s even another great option for simply kicking back in the rays. You’ll also spy plenty of little boats gliding across the water.
If you’re game for something more adventurous, how does cycling to Nidri Waterfalls sound? Look no further than Get Active Lefkas for a guided tour of the area, no matter how skilled (or not) on two wheels you might be! You’ll stray from the main road to cut through dreamy olive groves which climb up towards the waterfalls. Partway through the two-hour beginners’ tour, you’ll be rewarded with a homemade ginger cookie, which is the ideal pick-me-up and absolutely delicious.
When you reach the waterfalls, you’ll find a quaint, hidden-away café-bar where you can stop for refreshments or park the bikes and walk up to see the cascading features for yourself.
Has Lefkas’ exciting list of sports and activities inspired your next getaway? Now’s the prime time to plan your adventure.
