Deciding on a trip at the drop of a hat? Taking to the pistes at your own pace? The freedom to eat what you want, when you want? There are so many perks to solo ski and snowboarding holidays. We’ve put together a handy guide so you can start getting prepped for yours...

Before you go
There’s not a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to booking a solo ski or snowboarding holiday. You might be in the market for a sociable week in a buzzy resort, or maybe you fancy switching off somewhere serene. Whatever type of holiday you choose, start your stay in the best way with Jet2 flights. Fuss-free flights is our motto, thanks to our great-value fares to Europe’s main mountain gateways, plus 10kg hand luggage included and the option to add 22kg hold baggage and ski carriage^. Ski resorts can often be a challenge to get to via public transport, so why not book a shared or private transfer with us through Holiday Extras? You can amend your booking or cancel up until the day before you travel too. Read more about our ski and snowboarding flights here.

Resorts for all sorts
When you’re whittling down where to go, a lot of it will depend on your ability. Passo Tonale in Italy, Zell am See in Austria and Avoriaz in France are top picks for beginners. If you’re a seasoned pro, opt for resorts with access to plenty of pistes, so you can really clock up the kilometres. Canazei, Tignes, Val Thorens, Saalbach... we’re looking at you! Wanting somewhere that has as much to do off the slopes than on it? Fly into Geneva and unlock an A-Z of après activities in Chamonix. You can whizz up to 3,842m on the Aiguille du Midi cable car, take on the Step into the Void experience or ride the Montenvers railway to France’s largest glacier. Lots of the bars and cafés have a lively atmosphere – perfect if you’re wanting to mingle with like-minded travellers.

Top tips
- Sign up to group ski or snowboarding lessons – it's a great way to meet others, while improving your slope skills
- Check out a ski festival – from Snowbombing in Austria to Snowboxx in France, ski festivals are fab if you’re after a winter adventure that offers more than just skiing or snowboarding
- Opt for a chalet – the social nature of a chalet makes it easier to chat to others, and you’ll usually have a chalet host who can help with any questions
- Save your resort’s emergency contact details – if you’re out on the mountain alone, it’s important to keep your phone charged and to make note of the resort’s details, just in case
