Fuerteventura

Resorts

Fuerteventura’s a have-it-all destination for those travelling with the whole clan. When it comes to resorts, Corralejo is the largest, perched on over 10km of prime coastal real estate. Caleta de Fuste’s been built with children in mind too, from the all-the-bells-and-whistles hotels to the restaurant-packed centre.

Beaches

You’ll find golden grains by the bucket-and-spade-load here. It’ll be easy for hard-to-please teens to trade their phones for a paddleboard or surfboard on Sotavento Beach. And don’t forget to look out for the PWA Windsurf & PKRA Kiteboard World Cup, which rolls into resort every July. If you’re travelling with younger children, Grandes Playas’ shallow waters are perfect for paddlers. Plus, there are great amenities nearby!

Activities

This volcanic wonder is a kid’s paradise, with dunes to roll down, windswept waters to whizz across and sea-sculpted caves to uncover. Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura is sure to get a big thumbs up from nature fans, home to an array of animals, from flamingos to falcons.

Lanzarote

Resorts

Lanzarote’s a shoo-in for happiness-through-the-ranks holidays. But with a pick and mix of resorts to choose from, settling on where to stay can pose a challenge. Go for Puerto Del Carmen and you’ll be close to the main attractions, while Costa Teguise’s go-slow pace is ideal if you’re craving some chill-out time. If sprawling on snow-white swathes is top of your holiday agenda, Playa Blanca’s the place for you.

Beaches

This isle knows a thing or two about coastal charm. The south coast’s splendid for sunbathing, the west is a water sports mecca, and the north’s all about secluded spots. Little ones can splash in the surf to their heart’s content at Playa Flamingo, the most sheltered of Playa Blanca’s terrific trio of beaches. Papagayo Beach is one of the most prized patches, thanks to its azure waters and soft sands. Just be sure to bring some snacks and water with you, as there are no shops nearby.

Activities

You’ll never be short of something to do around these parts, with eye-catching experiences at every turn. A day trip to La Graciosa should be high on your list. This natural gem’s just half an hour away by ferry and primed for swimming and cycling. And of course, no holiday would be complete without ticking off the Timanfaya National Park. This lava-sculpted landscape, which looks as though it’s sprung straight from a child’s imagination, is sure to wow both little and large explorers.

Gran Canaria

Resorts

Puerto Rico’s a popular pick for all-the-gang getaways. You’ll have easy access to Puerto Rico Beach and Playa de Amadores, well suited for sandcastle-sculptors and sunbathers alike. If you enjoy the finer things in life, make a beeline for Meloneras. Swish restaurants, plush hotels and high-end boutiques come as standard here.

Beaches

Do you think seaside visits with your youngsters are nothing but hassle? Think again! The majority of Gran Canaria’s sandy plots are kitted out with bags of space, sunbeds for hire, and all the amenities you could need. Maspalomas Beach brings the drama, morphing into 400 hectares of dreamy dunes. The capital’s urban stretch, Playa de Las Canteras, is a winner too!

Activities

Whether you’re wildlife-watching in National Parks, unwinding on scenic sweeps or culture-crawling around traditional towns, Gran Canaria promises a bounty of kid-pleasing pursuits. If you’re a tribe of thrill-seekers, make Holiday World Maspalomas your first port of call. Tenerife

Resorts

Buzzy, bronzed and brimming with activities, Tenerife’s a treat for toddlers and teens. Playa De Las Americas has long been a hit with the Brits, and for good reason. It’s easy to flit between the resort’s six beaches, thanks to a mini-train which chugs along the coastline. But the best bit? You’ll be based near the Canaries’ most epic attraction, Siam Park. For a spritz of glitz, check out neighbouring Costa Adeje.

Beaches

Slip on your favourite flip-flops, grab the inflatables and head down to Los Cristianos Beach. This shell-sprinkled star is studded with sun loungers for lazy days in the rays. If you want to turn the tempo up a notch, kids can burn off steam on the volleyball courts. And when tums are rumbling, you’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars serving up Canarian cuisine, alongside all the usual favourites.

Activities

Mount Teide is usually at the top of every visitor’s Tenerife to-dos. Children aged three and over can experience the thrill of whizzing up to the summit of Spain’s highest peak in a cable car. Back on solid ground, why not hire a bike and explore on two wheels? The flat roads along the coast are fab for pint-sized pedallers!
