If you're dreaming of a Greek island escape that blends golden beaches, pine-covered hills and laidback charm, then look no further than Skiathos.
Tucked away in the Sporades, this dinky gem offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure and authentic Greek culture. Whether you're a sun-worshipper, foodie or explorer, check out our handy seven-day itinerary to find things to do in Skiathos and help you make the most of your time there...

Day one: Settle in and stroll Skiathos Town
Welcome to paradise! After settling into your hotel or villa, spend your first afternoon exploring Skiathos Town. Wander the cobbled streets, dip in and out of boutique shops and enjoy a leisurely dinner at a taverna overlooking the old harbour. Why not try the fresh, local seafood? Grilled octopus and stuffed calamari are big business here. Don’t miss a sunset drink at one of the waterfront bars – the views are magical!

Day two: Beach bliss at Koukounaries
Start your day the local way with a strong Greek coffee, before heading to Koukounaries Beach, arguably one of the most beautiful in Greece! Its soft sand and calm, turquoise waters are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There are plenty of sunbeds to sprawl out on, and the beach bars serve up refreshing cocktails and tasty lunches. In the evening, head to a welcoming taverna for dinner and live music.

Day three: Explore the island by boat
Hop aboard a boat tour and spend the day discovering hidden coves and snorkelling spots. Many trips include a stop off at Lalaria Beach – accessible only by sea and famous for its dramatic white cliffs. You could also visit sea caves and perhaps even Tsougria Island for a quick swim. It’s an unforgettable way to see Skiathos from a different angle.

Day four: Monasteries and mountain views
Rise and shine, it’s time for some culture and nature! Head up into the hills to visit the Evangelistria Monastery, a peaceful spot with fascinating history and gorgeous views. Plus, it’s only a 15-minute drive from Skiathos Town. From there, you can explore some of the inland villages like Kastro, a semi-ruined mediaeval town perched above the sea. Bring your camera – the scenery’s well worth photographing.

Day five: A chilled-out day at the beach
Skiathos has over 60 beaches and today’s your chance to discover a few more, so why not try Agia Eleni or Banana Beach? Banana Beach is a lively spot with loungers, music and beach bars. You could even try a bit of paddleboarding or jet-skiing here. Agia Eleni is quieter and perfect for sunset, so hang around until the evening and snap some stunning pics!

Day six: Follow a hiking or cycling trail
Fancy upping the tempo? There are so many picturesque trails across the island, taking you past ruins, monasteries, hidden coves and more! Simply pull on some comfy shoes and get those steps in. On the free Skiathos Trails app, you can find easy-to-follow routes and lots of handy tips and tricks for getting your most out of them. In the evening, why not kick back and relax while watching a film at the open-air cinema in Skiathos Town? They regularly show Mamma Mia! (it was filmed here, after all).

Day seven: Souvenir shopping!
On your last day, soak up a final few hours in the sunshine and pick up those all-important souvenirs – think olive oil, handmade soaps, local honey and more... And you can’t resist one last delicious Greek meal before heading home.
Skiathos may be small, but it has a big heart. Seven days here will leave you relaxed, sun-kissed and already planning your return...
